Don Banks has the Bears 16th

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/don_banks/09/05/season-preview-power-rankings/index.html?sct=nfl_t11_a0

Chicago Bears (--)

It all sounds good in theory, that a happy Matt Forte and two big new receivers in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey make the Bears very formidable on offense. But there are challenges to contend with, like Chicago's ever-present pass protection problems and a defense that ranked a so-so 17th last season.

2012 Bottom Line: If Jay Cutler and the passing game play lights out, the playoffs will beckon. But the Packers and Lions throw it better, and Chicago is .500 material again.

Jersey only goes by ESPN rankings.

So does Don Banks, apparently.

LOL at that defense being 17th in the league.

#Bears say they will wear their 1940s throwback jerseys Oct 28 against the Panthers and Dec 16 versus the Packers.

Awesome! Love those jerseys so much.

Urlacher says he's rusty, but that his knee feels good.

With the pain now gone, Urlacher expects to play a full amount of snaps Sunday even if his reps are limited some in practice. He was asked about the Colts maybe attacking the middle of the field Sunday to test his knee.

"I’m not worried about it," Urlacher said. "We’ll run our Cover-2 if we have to and see what happens. If they want to test me, I’ll have more chances to make plays then."

Linebacker Lance Briggs was asked the same question regarding Urlacher being attacked over the middle.

"They can try, but they will fail," Briggs said.

i looooove those jerseys. seems a bit unusual to wear a throwback against a team that's only been around since the '90s though.

Interesting. I never thought of the throwback being about who the opponent was. That October 28 game lines up with the Halloween game they often wear alternate unis.

I'm hoping that these are instead of the orange uni's this year.

nbd. I'm referring to the opponents wearing throwbacks from the same era.

Such a dumb thing to say. The Packers and Lions will throw it better. The Bears don't need to throw it better, they have a better running game, special teams and probably defense.

I was thinking how dumb it is to say the Bears are .500 material *again*, without even factoring in the Cutler/Forte injuries.

people just ignore the fact that cutler missed the last 6 games of the season.

I read somewhere (uniwatch, maybe?) the the orange unis are no more.

Heh...Kelvin Hayden talking about the Hester Super Bowl opening kickoff.

Bears cornerback Kelvin Hayden, who was on the Colts' coverage team that night, recalled the moment.

"I remember in our (special teams) meetings in Miami, everyone stood up and said, 'Kick it to him,' '' Hayden said. "We felt like the AFC was dominant at that time. And we hear about this guy, and he's a rookie. ... Him taking it back, it was rough.''

"My mindset is to get four returns for scores every year,'' Hester said. "That's all I really shoot for. If I stay with that on a consistent basis, I should be good.''

That Jay. So aloof. The only one not looking at the camera.

The others all look posed specifically for that shot, and it's like Jay couldn't make the photoshoot so they worked with what they had.

He was probably too lazy to make the photoshoot.
