as he is always talking about how clueless our crowds are when we are on offense.

Bernstein is an idiot for making that a topic.

Why? The fact that our dumbass fanbase can't get it in their head to shut up while we are on offense is a pretty big, frustrating, deal.

Cut 'em some slack, they've never seen offense before.

Ugh

Even with a new contract, Bears running back Matt Forte still didn't seem happy after Week 1. But it was more about what Forte didn't get: goal-line carries that resulted in Michael Bush scoring two one-yard touchdowns in the Bears' 41-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Soldier Field. "It's been happening my whole career here, so I don't know," Forte said when asked about not finishing drives. "That's the coordinator's call."

Havent seen anyone else talking about this so its possible SI is making something out of nothing here.

It's not a big deal at all and it's really stupid that people waste time talking about it as some sort of issue.

Wasting timeouts in the redzone is no big deal?

The Bears offense has been wasting timeouts in the red zone home and away in the Lovie era because they have been a poorly coached/organized/disciplined unit. The coaching staff obviously doesn't value time outs and doesn't mind using them in the 1st and 3rd quarter, so it's going to happen. Don't blame the fans for the Bears shortcomings.

I can't think of a single other home team's fanbase that can't grasp the concept of being quite, when your home team has the football. At Lambeua it's dead silent when the Pack have the ball. It's really ashame that this lucky sperm club of season ticket holders managed to inherit their tickets.

Yes certainly, Chicago is the only stadium that is loud when the home team has the ball. It's the fans fault how disorganized and sloppy they've been for so long. Makes lots of sense.

Also, I honestly didn't get a good evaluation on Shea McClellen yesterday, but as someone who was hoping the Bears drafted Chandler Jones when the Bears pick came up, I've been following him closely. It sucks that he had a huge camp and was able to force a big fumble yesterday that was returned for a TD. To me Shea seems like a bit of a project because of his size and maybe does find a way to be more valuable over his career, but as it stands right now, Jones looks like the a stud and Shea hasn't shown us much yet.

It was a long time ago, but back in 1991 I was at a Cowboys game when Troy Aikman had to call a timeout because the idiot Cowboy fans were doing The Wave and making so much noise that the team couldn't hear while backed up inside their own 10-yard line.

The Score getting on Cutler this morning for his comments to the fans to quiet down. God I hate sports media.

Are they really?

I know Bernstein will be behind him. I can't imagine who would actually disagree with him.

EDIT - Oh, it's Mully. LOL

No way bernstein supports such meatballery

I'm not sure how you're taking my comment but I'll clarify. I'm saying that Bernstein will be behind Cutler, as he is always talking about how clueless our crowds are when we are on offense.

I thought you meant behind Mully. My bad.

I was just about to say that Cowboys fans have the same problem.

Forte was in there for at least one play at the goal line, even though they didn't go to him. Might have been the play that Cutler lost yardage to the 5. So it's not like they just automatically pull Forte every time.

Pretty sure with this new offense, everyone will get plenty of TD opportunities.

Forte got a red zone TD.

If the home crowd making noise when the Bears have the football is a non-issue then why is Cutler bringing it up?

And I'm not sure if this is a new thing but the mascot holds up a "Quiet Bears at Work" sign when the team has the ball

I meant besides the obvious one, but yeah, there was that one too.

That whole "Forte is Mad" thing got started by an article by Joe Cowley. I had no idea he's allowed to write about football now.

First of all, every team in the league has to call time outs on the road from time to time in the 1st and 3rd quarter. This is nothing unique to the Bears and I think you're letting the non-audible offense under Martz sway your opinion too much because it was done at an unusually high rate in 2010 and 2011.

By pointing out that the Bears have had this problem at home games during the Lovie tenure, you're supporting his argument. I would wager that it was not any less of a problem pre-Lovie. If you want to show me some type of proof to the contrary, be my guest.

Do I think it is catastrophic? No. But it does hurt the team and is preventable. The preventable part is why I think it is a topic and why it annoys Bernstein (and myself too).

One concern I do have about the game is how Cutler's improvement in the game seemed to coincide exactly with Freeney leaving the game. Was that extra help all Cutler needed to go from awful to awesome? And are the Bears completely boned once they do go up against a legit pass rush? Edited by bukie

I'm not supporting the argument because it's not noise that forces timeouts. it's disorganization from the offensive unit. They have consistently wasted timeouts (much like Lovie in general badly mismanages challenges). They will call timeouts on 2nd and 8 from mid-field. It doesn't have to be the red zone.

The fans cheering is not the problem. The Bears have a horrible offensive line and just this year finally put together some offensive weapons, all under a first time coordinator. There are going to be miscommunications and errors, noise or no noise.
