I'm not doing any stats, but starters today are:

Iowa- Yoanner Negrin

Tennessee-Dallas Beeler

Daytona-Matt Loosen and Eduardo Figueroa

Peoria- Yao-Ling Wang

Boise- Tayler Scott

I'm not the biggest Yao-lin Wang fan out there, and part of me feels guilty about that, but he has really had a strong run since moving to the rotation. The one thing he has on the other arms there is that he's more polished with better secondary feel. With how well he's done, he should stick in the rotation for the A+ jump. The raw stuff is far better than Hung-Wen Chen's, although I still don't know if he's a starter long run.

I'd kill for some of Daytona's rain.

Yeah, [expletive] Daytona. I'm turning to the dark side. Bring on the Cal league for a couple years and then hope the Carolina league opens up down the road.

You only say that because you're going to sneak out to San Jose when the Cubs California League affiliate visits.

This is true. I'd also probably drive down to Bakersfield if the schedule permits.

Geez. There are affiliates in Stockton, Modesto and Visalia if you're willing to go to Bakersfield.

For some reason wasn't even thinking about the other teams in the North. I vaguely remember going to a Stockton Ports game for some little league function when I was 8 or 9. We got to go on the field and tip our hits before the game. Weird.

What's most messed up is that the rain seems to ONLY be happening to the Daytona Cubs. The rest of the FSL slate has gone on as scheduled the last 2 days. In fact, Daytona has been rained out 8 times (9 games) in the last 30 days, and has been the only game rained out on 5 of those days. Twice only 1 other game was rained out. And only once (first of the rainouts) was most of the FSL schedule rained out. All but 1 of the games rained out were in Daytona, as the rain did follow them to Lakeland for 1 trip. In fact, I believe I counted 5 times they were rained out when scheduled to play Lakeland, not including the rained out DH.

Maybe they'd be Ok moving somewhere else in the FSL?

Almora, Vogel, Candelerio, and Amaya went a combined 0-15 with 1 BB and 5 K. Yeesh.

Candelario went 0/2 with a (bases loaded) BB and a HBP, not sure why you'd lump him in with Almora, Vogelbach and Amaya.

Some stories on Soler:

MiLB.com"] "The best thing he's been doing is that he's been paying attention to the pitcher and how they are pitching to him," Garbey said. "And his pitch selection has been good, and that will help him a lot. He shows great discipline at the plate and great patience, and that's why he's been successful.

"He will move up a little faster than expected if he continues to have a good pitch selection and the same approach he's been showing at the plate and using the whole field. That's the most important thing."

Carrie Muskat"]"There's a nice sound that comes off his bat, which is, I'm sure, why everyone's excited about what he's capable of doing," said Tom Beyers, the Cubs' Minor League hitting coordinator. "You can hear that in the cage and hear that on the field. He's an exciting guy. I love the passion he has -- he shows a lot of passion. He's always smiling. So far from what I've seen, he's really soaking things in and wants to learn."

...

"It's important for us to give him an opportunity to play himself back into game shape," Beyers said. "He's real conscious about the approach side of the game. That's an area he wants to learn. The mechanics side is one thing Barbaro [Garbey] communicated with him. When he was in Mesa, we allowed him to go out and let him show us some things on his own. We'll address the mechanical things at a later date if needed."

...

"Baseball is a little different here than in Cuba," Soler said through Peoria player/coach Kenny Socorro. "In Cuba, the players weren't as polished as these guys are. I see a lot more talented young guys, throwing in the low 90s with good breaking balls. I didn't see that day in and day out."

Tayler Scott continuing to impress despite the 1 K. Very excited to see what he does in Peoria next year.

Where do you think he slots in with our pitching prospects? His control has improved since the beginning of the season, and he certainly has the ability to add more velocity. I think he's a guy that could shoot up the rankings next year in Peoria.

As these rainouts are a recurring problem, wouldn't it hurt their financial situation? If it hurts enough, they might be OK to move.
