There's also a guy floating around who is 62, and back in the day he got hurt throwing his warmup pitches in a relief appearance, his only MLB appearance. He was officially in the game but never threw a pitch.

I'd love to hear what he thinks about all this.

The Mets should sign him and let him pitch to Greenberg on the 2nd.

To top this next season the Marlins should sign a team full of nothing but people unlikely to get in the HOF due to steroids. Reset the clocks of McGwire, Bonds, Clemens, etc.

So, have an old-timer's game that actually counts in the standings?

We'd have to compare it to whatever clusterbleep actually becomes the 2013 Florida Marlins to see if it would be anymore shameful.

Did the Marlins have to DFA someone to make this happen?

They had a guy on the 15-day DL that they moved to the 60-day DL.

Good. I was fine with this, as long as it didn't hurt an actual player's career. I'm trying to remember Greenberg's situation back when he got called up by us. He was only called up because Pie was hurt, right? And had to be added to the 40 man at that point, right? I know he wasn't highly thought of as a prospect, but it there had to be a decent chance, if not for Pie's injury, he'd have never been placed on our 40 man, right?

I'm sure a lot of people know this already but Greenberg whiffed on 3 pitches and looked pretty bad doing it.

THANK GOD HE GOT HIS CHANCE

GIVE GREENBERG ONE MORE AB!! HE DESERVES A HIT KEEP GIVING HIM ABS UNTIL HE GETS THE HIT HE DESERVES

Add Clayton Kershaw to the list of those who should have been offended when the Marlins gave Adam Greenberg an at-bat. R.A. Dickey, who struck out Greenberg on three pitches, won the strikeout title over Kershaw by one 230-229. …

This is so ridiculous.

Greenberg pinch hit for Bryan Petersen and was replaced by Scott Cousins, two guys who combined for a 22% K rate and a .514 OPS(including 0 for 3 with a K that day). He didn't "give" Dickey the strikeout title any more than any other managerial decision that made it marginally more likely that the SP could get a strikeout.
