Cubs farm products without huge upside that have poor approaches that may prevent them from being regulars. They traded the first one(Colvin) to try and upgrade elsewhere, and I think they'll do the same to Vitters this offseason.

So they'll want to move Baez?

Which one, Jeffrey or Javier?

According to any analyst that's been asked about him, they think he's league averagish offensively with a glove that's not good enough to stick at 3B.

Lol I missed the without, doesnt Vitters have pretty solid upside though?

If he could dramatically improve his pitch selection thus swinging at better pitches to hit and taking more walks, he's got the hit tool to produce at an above average level. Not only is that not very likely to happen, he also is below average defensively and has little speed on the bases.

These analysts have maintained the same projections for him despite his year at iowa. Oh and he's 22

Oh, I'm aware. Not saying I agree with them. But, it's like they've gathered around to form a canned answer, in response to him.

The problem with any of those guys is they're covering 30 different teams systems. We're following one. Good example is Sickels comment on Torreyes today on his midseason report. Said he needs to hit better if he's going to have a chance or something to that effect. Doesn't take into account he's 19 and holding his own, despite horrible luck in High A ball, in a pitchers league.

More a side note, but the FSL should really be known as more of a neutral league than a pitcher's league, IMO, looking at the 2011 park factor data on BBTF.

Yeah, I really think they're gonna let Vitters beat up on PCL pitching as long as possible, then make him this coming offseason's Colvin. To be more bold about it, I'd be surprised if Vitters reaches 100 PAs as a Cub.

Do you really see them trading him this offseason? There is a gaping hole at 3B. Vitters is young and under cost control for some time. I guess I wouldn't be surprised but if I see them giving him a shot at least.

Yeah, I don't think they believe in Vitters as a capable MLB hitter. They traded Colvin and signed a FA RF last year, I imagine that they don't have a problem trading Vitters and going with a more preferred 3B option in FA or trade.

I don't really get the connection. Colvin was a 26 year old 4th OF going into his 3rd MLB season and coming off a year in which he was terrible. Vitters is a 22 year old former #3 pick having the best year of his professional career at his highest competition level to date, while showing improvement in teh area of his game that most needs it. There are similarities in approach, but Vitters has considerably more time before the book on him is completed.

Tim must be away. He has informed us of most of Vitters' walks this year. But chalk up a new career high for walks for Vitters. Jackson singled in a run following the walk.

Gets tiring when he walks in 3 of 4 games.

A Vitters walk is never tiring.

Almora with a double and Soler singles him in.

Man, it's hard not to get excited about our our top prospects now...too bad they're probably all at least a couple of years from the bigs.
