Oh, and from a few congratulatory tweets, it looks like Rosscup is heading to Tennessee.

Well, he deserved a bump. Considering his age, might as well see if he sinks or swims in the AA pen. If the velo reports are still in the 90's, could be an intriguing pen lefty.

Szczur hit 10 homers last year. I think that the concentration on discipline probably has quite a bit to do with his lack of homers. His extra base hits, as a total, are in line with last year.

I never really found fault with the crux of Law's critique on Szczur, namely that his approach and swing might not be conducive to power. Thought the Pierre comp was ridiculous. The plus side is, he had been hitting for better power since April. If he can got on a little hot streak again in Daytona, he really needs to head to Tennessee soon. Ha got a nice long look, and defensively, there's a lot to like, but Szczur's closer to helping and Ha can still get AB's.

The fact that his improvements in discipline came with a severe power drought isn't a good thing. (Sort of like somehow him missing key formative athletic years playing football has morphed into a positive for him).

If he proves it in AA, I'll eat my words, but right now I'm betting a lot of those XBH are A-ball fast guy power, where poorly positioned outfielders let him take extra bases on hits that would be singles in the majors.

The more I follow the minors the less I care about national pundits. BA obsesses over athleticism and ceiling, and the rest just regurgitate old news consensus. The minors are too big for these guys to be experts to the degree we would like.

I agree with this more than ever with the way they jumped off the Rizzo bandwagon after his cup of coffee with the Padres. These guys are just a barometer needle for hype, I don't really consider it to be legitimate analysis or even knowledge. Vitters wont get on the list because the hype has been deflated from his hype balloon before this season. It has nothing to do with his tools or ability to play baseball.
