While it's by no means realistic, I still have to wonder if Rizzo had been up all along with LaHair in RF, all of those quality starts early on might not have been wasted, and our season might not have been over by Memorial Day. Oh well, if my dog meowed he'd be my cat.

I don't totally know the more advanced statistical metrics backward and forward but I'm pretty sure they would say that there's virtually no chance any one player would affect a team to that degree. This team is not good and Rizzo for the whole season wouldn't make it good.

There's also the question - superfluous though it may be - of whether Rizzo would've been this good all year.

Wow just saw the box so far.

Rizzo is going to make me start watching a lot of ball again.

Yeah, same here. I missed the game tonight, gonna have to catch the highlights.

My nephew just got a job with the Padres. He told me to come down when the Cubs are there in August. Free tix to the games, so I think I'm gonna go and see Rizzo firsthand.

I don't know what the hell to think. It's only been 10 games, but damn. He looks really GOOD. I know things can change in a hurry, but right now, it's not very hard to picture him as a year in, year out MVP candidate.

Okay...

I admit it...

This was a better decision (by far) than Pujols.

The biggest thing to me is that he's getting around on the inside fastballs, and he's getting around on them quickly.

The long swing seems like it's a thing of the past, and it's a beautiful thing.

Usually, no. But remember, early on Castro and Rizzo were basically a 2 man wrecking crew in the heart of the lineup, with Barney and DeJesus regularly getting on base in front of them. Problem is that nobody past the 4 spot could get do anything. Adding 1 more big bat could have made a big difference, especially with all of those close games we lost due to the failure to drive in runs.

Again, like you said there's no way of knowing if Rizzo would have styarted the season as he has done since coming up.

They are playing LA the weekend series before they play the Padres Mon-Wed. I live in San Jose, would love to drive down to LA and catch a game, then drive to San Diego, but not sure I can pull that off. Will probably end up flying to San Diego Monday morning, see the first 2 games, then fly back on Wed.

Rizzo definitely gives us something to look forward to. Now we just need about 10 or 12 prospects as good as he is. :D

I love Petco and can't stand Dodger Stadium - I definitely would have gone to a Padre game if they weren't playing down there midweek. Of course even Rizzo might not be able to hit a HR there.

I've never been to either stadium, but have heard the same thing you just said. Definitely looking forward to Petco. Not sure if you've been to a Giants game, but AT&T is a really nice stadium.

Yeah, he'll have to hit a shot to get the ball out of that park!

Petco is a great stadium.

Somehow, I managed to live in OC for six years and never went to Chavez Ravine.
