Someone else who heard the interview said Levine said he COULD be called up on Saturday, but it will be no later than Monday.

Considering that Rizzo is 4 for his last 18, does it make more sense to bring him up while he's in the middle of another tear at Iowa, assuming it doesnt occur the next two nights before the weekend? With his struggles last year at SD, I would rather bring him up when he's hitting well to maximize his chance of success. It's not like the Cubs need to be in a hurry to bring him up.

If there was much to the notion that you can carry over a streak, hot or cold, from the minors to the majors then it would be worth keeping that in mind. However, I have doubts about the notion that you can actually "maximize" a player's chance of success by calling him up during a hot streak.

Bruce Levine has no inside information. He is speculating, simple as that. If Rizzo is called up this Saturday it will be a coincidence based on a guess relative to his service time. Nothing more.

Bruce Levine certainly does have inside information. All of those guys do. That said, someone already posted that someone else who heard it on the radio said Levine wasn't reporting it as fact or anything official. He just gave a range of dates. The OP was misleading.
