Ryan Theriot was a douche to a city that adored him completely irrationally.

Of course, that's not surprising, because he is a douche.

Additionally:

Hawkins: racism related

Bradley: racism related

Jacque Jones: felt unfairly treated, might have been racism mixed in. Flames were fanned by close friend Tori Hunter.

Baker: ran out of top shelf arms to wreck

Silva: vocally upset that he lost his job to a more talented player(Cashner) and was strung along despite the fact that they know he would lose out.

I think DeRosa, Prior, and Pierre each might have griped a bit after their respective stays.

I don't recall DeRosa, Prior or Pierre griping at all. Mark Grace is the one that irritated me:

"I'm not good enough to play for the Cubs but I'm good enough to play for the WS champions!"

douchbag

There were definitely reports of Prior being sour on Hendry/Baker and the feeling was supposedly mutual. I can't remember if there were any public comments, though.

i remember an odd interview with prior on the mac, jurko and harry show back in '03 or '04 where he expressed dismay about how the cubs marketed him and also the team, but he didn't want to go into detail about specifics. thought it was kinda weird for him to say that since outside of going to a random sports authority in schaumburg to sign baseballs for kids and parents, i never thought he was over or under marketed by the team.

I definitely remember him being pretty upset and whining to the media that the Cubs decided to start Prior in AAA to start the 2007 season, primarily because he was coming off a bad injury in 2006 and didn't have the velocity back on his pitches during spring training. He made some comment about making the Triple-A All-Star game and the futures game after calling himself an employee of the Cubs and has no control over their decision.

I just checked and he didn't even play in AAA (or anywhere) that year. What the hell happened? I can't remember.

"The goal now is to go down and help that team win and try to make the Triple-A All-Star team. Maybe I can get invited to the Futures Game or something. I'm still 26."

I don't care if that quote is or isn't sour grapes, it's awesome

or just prevent some people from starting new threads

If only you had the ability to see which posters started which threads. Maybe the site should have like an author column.

i hope cashner has success, but i'm still amazed that the cubs got rizzo for him.

remember the guys that brought to boston and san diego are gone. So maybe the padres guys did not have the same strong feelings for him. He did not tear things up last year, so maybe they were ready for a change. Also petco is not exactly a park to cultivate young hitters over young pitchers.

he wasn't great the other day but it still is pretty eye-catching to see him 102 on the gun.

Only if you're viewing their numbers in a vacuum.

Just going on what was said about his year at the majors last year. Which I fail to see as good in or out of the vacuum.

The main point was that the guys who loved him enough to make sure he was in the deal for Gonzales are now here. Not a slam on either player or group. Some groups favor hitters, and some favor pitchers. I personally think that since we had no idea on Lahair, this was worth the deal. Getting a potential middle order bat for a team that has lacked a true #3 hitter since DLee hurt his wrist years ago, we need bats more than a set-up, potential closer.

It has been said that Theo's group feels that you can always find bullpen help.

Whoops, I didn't see that you said "that" blog post, I thought you were just posting that from a random blog. Carry on.
