Clearly we need designated pitchers to pitch for pitchers so that they don't get hurt.

Man... SB Nation blogs can get pretty sad/ugly in a hurry.

Josh, when you finally die of a drug related matter it won't be Arte Moreno's fault. It won't be the fault of the good fans in Anaheim who figured out your little game. They might have Donnie Moore's karma on them but they won't have yours. As much as I would like to say the blame for your future fate lies with the enabling national media and coddling players union, I think of Steve Howe's face crushed against his truck's windshield on a lonely interstate highway with crystal meth in his bloodstream and I know that all the blame will be on you, all of it, as it was with Howe.

what in the actual [expletive]

SBNation fired the guy.

UPDATED: SBNation released a statement from founder Tyler Bleszinski, firing the blogger in question.

Last night a story was published on one of our team blogs that crossed the line between fanaticism and good taste.

We take pride in the fact that our team blogs are allowed to express themselves and their rabid following of their teams unencumbered by the traditional editorial process. It’s what we’re great at and what makes us unique. But when someone does cross that line of good taste, we need to make sure that our readership realizes that we don’t embrace the culture of pure wild, wild west.

We took the post down and we have mutually agreed to part ways with the blogger in question. We thank him for his years of service to his community and look forward to opening a new chapter at that blog. We in no way endorse the post. We realize that this could happen again in the future and we will always act when that line is crossed.

And HalosHeaven addressed it here: http://www.halosheaven.com/2015/4/28/8511283/shattered-changes-at-halos-heaven

EDIT: Apparently his farewell post was removed as well....

Wow, that farewell post is only slightly less crazy. That's a bit disturbing. Even the redditors are mostly horrified/confused.

Yeah, it seems like doubling down on the crazy is the thing to do nowadays. Like the dude that says he'll burn his bar to the ground rather than remove the 2-way mirror from the women's restroom.

Well, did you call it?

Nope. I'm sure there's been no lack of others giving it a try though.

So the zero attendance Orioles game had 10 runs and 15 hits and yet was played in 2 hours and 3 minutes. It was televised so the commercial length should have been the same. Wonder what took an hour, more or less, away from a typical game of that sort? The goofy fan stuff between innings surely doesn't eat up that much time.

I was thinking about talking about this earlier.

With the success of the Astros and Cubs doing the full tank & rebuild, how many teams will try to copycat the process?

The Brewers have almost no choice but to head that way...not that it means they have the FO to get it done.

For small market teams it's been a pretty common practice, if not intentionally, then just due to circumstance. Whether we'll see a larger market do it or to the level of the Cubs... I doubt it.

Aren't the Astro's a pretty large market. 4th biggest city in the USA. Might not be as huge of a Metro area as maybe San Fran but its still plenty big.

I'm pretty sure the Houston metro has many millions more than San Fran metro. It's a juggernaut.

It does. The only way it's close is if you call it Bay Area Metro and include San Jose and surrounding areas.. but San Jose is literally 50 miles away.

True- I guess the Astro's had the same affliction as the Cubs- small market by choice.

If you include the valley(and for the purposes of this conversation you should) they're probably about equal, depending on how much you want to include that borders on Oakland.

The main DMA in question is in red

You're getting San Mateo county already, which is a large chunk of the valley. It's really not close unless you include San Jose and its burbs (the yellow part). Then it's about equal.

to exclude san jose from the equation is about as arbitrary it gets. the san francisco 49'ers play in santa clara, also known as the town that borders san jose to the north and northwest

so no, the houston metropolitan area is not "many millions" more people than the bay, ffs
