Miguel Tejada tests positive for amphetemines, suspended 105 games. Might be time to hang up the cleats.

 

i didn't even know he was still playing.

 

For a 39 year old part-time player he was doing an acceptable job on a piss poor Royals offensive team. As a baseball player in general though, he's replaceable

That's not great, but he hasn't been entirely useless. But he's not gonna be difficult to replace or missed. 105 games is a looong time. He probably needs to cal it a career.

Apparently he has taken them for years for ADHD and was given a waiver. This year Bud took the waiver away. If that's true, bud is a dick.

I wish I could go back to being more naive about baseball when I thought Sandberg and Dawson were the best players in the game.

 

there should be a thread for dumb baseball opinions we held as kids

 

i used to tell everyone that shawon dunston was just as good, if not better, than ozzie smith

 

I had complete reverence for Leon Durham, and hated Mark Grace for years for taking Durham's job.

 

13-year-old-me thought that Rick Wilkins was a god.

I can buy that. My 12-year-old brother was pointing out how strange/borderline immature Tejada was acting between pitches during the Red Sox Friday night game.

I love how, if true, they took away his waiver and then tested him three times in one year. Seems very random.

The father of a Melbourne baseballer who was shot dead while jogging in Oklahoma says his son was a "talented, intelligent kid" whose life was brought to a "senseless" end.

 

Christopher Lane, 22, was jogging in the small town of Duncan on Friday when he was shot in the back in a drive-by.

 

Police have arrested three teenagers aged 15, 16 and 17.

 

They will be charged with first-degree murder and could potentially face the death penalty.

 

Lane was on a baseball scholarship at East Central University and was reportedly two weeks away from celebrating his 23rd birthday.

 

He had just returned to the US from a trip back to Australia with his girlfriend Sarah, and was believed to have only been staying at her residence for about three days before the incident.

 

Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said the shooting appears to have been a random, unprovoked attack and he had not seen anything like it in 30 years of law enforcement.

 

"He apparently was jogging, he went by a residence where these three boys were, they picked him as a target, they went out and got in a vehicle and followed him," Chief Ford told the ABC's AM program.

How can any cubs fan not immediately recognize that [expletive]? He's easily my most hated player and always will be.

 

If I were playing the original RBI baseball today, I'd bench him before the first pitch, just like the good ol days.

 

They should invite him back to Wrigley just so people can dump more beer on his head.
