From my understanding the only hang up is Dempster's approval? There's nothing official to report because YOU have to take action in order for there to be something to report.

Are people seriously bothered by the guy wanting to hear this from his boss instead of the way it came out?

 

In the age of Twitter, it probably wouldn't hurt to be a little more pragmatic.

And the leak probably isn't even from the Cubs FO, which has been pretty stealth since Theo took over. So now it's the FO's fault that they discuss/agree on a trade and the Braves leak it?

 

Theo has probably discussed Dempster with 10 teams. Is he supposed to get Demp's OK before even talking to anyone?

 

I don't think the "it wasn't us defense" will do any good, in fact i think that is part of the problem. Put yourself in Dempster's shoes, he is obviously angry about the lack of professionalism/respect for him shown by leaking to the media before he was told. If it was the Cubs that leaked it he would probably be more inclined to get away from the unprofessional front office. Instead, if it was indeed the Braves, and that is what really ticked him off, then he has to decide if he wants to work for an organiation that conducts itself in that manner.

 

Ethics matter people, and if he doesn't want to work for an organiztion that can't be professional enough to keep their mouth shut for 10 minutes so the Cubs can make a phone call, I can't say that I really blame him. Still hope he accepts the trade though.

I feel blindsided by your tweet yesterday Dempster. I now need 24 hours because of this. It's pretty funny how he's all hurt and bent out of shape because Theo didn't call him into the office first and give him a back rub and tell him how much they're gonna miss him and his impersonations and how hard it's gonna be without him. Theo talked to his ass 2 months ago about this and Dempster even said he'd love to join Atlanta. Man the [expletive] up already. Ok, the overwhelming sentiment on here is that he is angry. I was just stating that if that was case, I could understand him being upset. I don't like it any more than you do, but as someone who has worked for a person that had a "loose ethical interpretation" I know that the organization reflects on the individual just as much as the individual reflects on the organization and if you are uncomfortable with that relationship the choice may not be easy.
