I honestly think Dempster's agent is just trying to coax a promise of an extension out of the Braves (via the Cubs) before agreeing to waive his no-trade rights and that although there is no "trade" to speak of, the Braves and Cubs have come to terms on what players would be involved if/when Dempster waives said rights. This isn't particularly profound given that no-trade clauses are meant to do just this very thing (and not to "block" trades, necessarily).

 

Of course, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and am limited to the same Twitter as everyone else, so who the heck knows.

Does that really matter? It's not like Delgado has a whole lot of say in stopping a trade or approving one. He doesn't have a NTC or anything I doubt anyone on either side of this (Jed, Theo, Wren) first thought was to talk to Delgado's agent. Especially if this thing is still not 100% done.
