Does Youk have anything left in the tank? Now 33. Looks like he's going to miss 40-60 games for the 3rd straight year. Can't really handle 3B defensively well enough anymore. Doesn't hit for as much power as he did a few years ago. He can still give you a decent low .800s OPS at 1B, but if I was a GM I wouldn't give up anything of value for him.

The Dodgers, Nationals, Blue Jays, Athletics, Brewers, Giants...I guess I will stop there. I have a feeling they will send Middlebrooks down pretty soon, but there would be lots of destinations for Youk if he is on the block.

 

Sorry, all of that is under the assumption he would be manning first/DH where appropriate.

I don't see the Sox sending Middlebrooks back to P'tucket. He has already obliterated short A, A, AA, and led the Int'l League in everything this season prior to his promotion. He is going on 24 and it's time for him to stay at the ML level regardless of Youkilis situation. Youk's inability to stay healthy and Middlebrooks performance have forced Cherington's hand.
