Speaking of starting pitching, just wanted to note how solid the pitching was in AA and A+

Brooks Raley: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 7-3 GO-FO (Note: He did this on 65 pitches and was removed for a pinch hitter in a run scoring situation)

Austin Kirk: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 4-5 GO-FO

EDIT: sonofa...

Also, from listening to the radio feed, it sounded like the defense kinda let Raley down the inning he gave up the 2 runs.

Torreyes is 3-3, with 2 doubles, a triple, a walk, and a HBP.

Hell, the boy is even above the Mendoza line.

Raley has been good thus far but still not striking many guys out.

Rizzo apparently can't handle Mike Parisi. 2 K's so far.

Didn't we have him at one point?

Think he was a Rule 5 guy we picked at one point, right?

Notice this as well. I still kinda like him as a no stuff bor lefy type if he can get a few more K's. He's still one of the more athletic players in the upper levels of this system:

IMO more interesting than Rusin because there's still room for growth for him as a pitcher. He was a two way player when drafted, and a talented hitter...At least IIRC I think he was rated as one of the top 2 way players in his draft year.

I've noticed that Blake Parker has kept his walks down this year, which in the past has been his main issue. I'm not sure if he's had any others as well. He's always had a pretty high K rate. Maybe if they finally get sick of Lendy Castillo walking every other batter or Sean Camp being old and bad he'll finally get a call. It's been long enough and it's not like we're loaded with options, thus Scott Maine replacing Kerry Wood.
