so what if vitters is a guy who makes lots of contact but doesn't hit for much power, what can we hope he turns into? jeff cirillo with fewer walks? placido polanco without the defense?

Hasn't he usually had at least decent power numbers?

About the same as Jeff Cirillo, although when Cirillo was 22 he was in the Midwest league, not the PCL.

Hell, I'd take Cirillo in a heartbeat. Cirillo had a decent amount of power in his prime.

I hope Soto can get it going, so we can trade him for something solid. I'm pretty sold on giving Castillo the starting gig next year.

I would take Cirillo as well... Pretty good hitter and he was also a great defensive 3B in the late 90s/early 00s IIRC...

so Grudzielanek at 3B with average or a bit worse than average D???

Wasn't there talk of a deal with TB centered around Jeff Niemann or Wade Davis at one point in the offseason? I'd take it if we could get a decent prospect as well.

I'd hope for more power than Grudz. As I recall, the ladies sure loved Grudz.

It was brought up by someone, but I think it was just speculation and not necessarily discussed. I'd rather just get a prospect package at this point though, than another 4/5 type starter.

I'm not worried about Vitters' power a week into the season. His power has always came in bunches as it is. If he stays healthy, I'll be surprised if he doesn't get 20 or so.

Especially if his approach really has changed and he's only swinging at stuff he can drive.

Apparently Coleman left the game due to an injury. :( Not that he was my favorite pitcher, but he isn't terrible as a 6th or 7th option.

Never want to see a player get injured with the possible exception of Ryan Braun, but Coleman is more like a 9th or 10th option.

Any reports on how hard Vitters singles have been? Have they been grounders getting through holes? or line drives?

I know the last few days have been line drives. Not sure about tonight's.

It's taking a little getting used to, to have so many guys in Iowa, that are going to be contributing soon. Still hard to fathom theyVe got a full lineup of guys that will probably hit the majors within a year.

Rizzo and BJax are hitless for their last two games.

Shut up.

I was fiddling with the service time calculations, and I don't think Rizzo can come up before like mid-August and be sure of getting the full six years after this year. It's not an exact science because the MLB season isn't always the same length, but he has like 65 days already plus he gets 5-11 extra days a year for each full year on the roster.
