I can't help but notice Adrian Cardenas' line of .318/.292/.727. How can his OBP be that much lower than his avg?

Two sacrifice flies combined with no walks.

Nitpick: The Iowa game is sadly at 6:35 and not 12:10. And here I thought I'd be able to pay attention to that rather than class.

The Smokies are on right now.

McNutt continues to rack up the strikeouts but also the walks and pitches. 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K. 71 pitches - don't think he's going to get past 5 today.

And Tennessee is facing one of the best prospects in baseball, James Paxton. They got 1 in the 1st thanks to 3 consecutive singles by Watkins (bunt), Ha (bunt) and Ridling, followed by a sac fly by Bour.

Came out in the 5th but left after giving up a leadoff single.

It's far too early to reach any conclusions on anyone (I certainly wasn't too intrigued with Rhee last April), but here's hoping McNutt can start showing better command/control, because he seems to be continuing some of the same problems from last year.

Agreed but I do like seeing the strikeouts up and he's far less hittable than last season.

What's Antigua's ceiling?

Well ... I thought he had a ceiling as a possible 4th starter, with 3 above average pitches, but now, he seems pegged for the pen. In the pen, he's at least a potentially good LOOGY, but if he jacks up fastball velocity a bit, maybe a bit more (not sure what early reports are saying).

I would have said a decent 4/5 starter, until we decided to put him in the pen. Now I guess I'm hopeful of a setup guy, not a LOOGY. Think it was too soon to give up on him as a SP though, for sure.

I'd say a 3/4 starter but apparently that ship has sailed.

Antigua's coming through with a stellar outing so far (3 ip, 3 h, 1 bb, 3 K's, 1 R). The plus part is that it keeps us in the game. The negative part is ... (not a serious negative) that it sure makes me wonder about him as a starter.

so what if vitters is a guy who makes lots of contact but doesn't hit for much power, what can we hope he turns into? jeff cirillo with fewer walks? placido polanco without the defense?

Flipped back over to Iowa's gameday tab to see how Rizzo's AB went, got real excited when I saw Iowa had scored, then was disappointed to see that Castillo(a legit prospect in his own right) hit the HR. What is wrong with me?

In non-Iowa news, Szczur isn't doing much right now, but he seems to be exhibiting a lot more patience. 3 walks in 25 PA's for Daytona, after 5 walks in 175 PA's there last year.
