God I hope we blow out the Sixers on Tuesday. That will shut up the media.

Haha what? Almost everything I've read/heard/seen in the media has been about how the Bulls are probably still going to beat Philly. Not sure what a blowout will do to change their opinions about the Bulls long term (aka rest of playoffs).

Btw the Bulls were 5-2 against the Sixers, Celtics and Heat without Rose (ok really 4-2 I'm counting the 1-13 game from Rose) and 4-1 against Sixers, Hawks and Heat wo Rose.

I know regular season and playoffs are different but it's nice to know that we've beaten each team before without rose.

now that the syringe is out of my forehead, i'm kind of excited to see what these guys can do. losing derrick doesn't affect the bulls two biggest strengths: rebounding and defense. we're basically going to be shooting a lot of contested jumpers now, so the defense will have no margin of error. assuming we take down philadelphia relatviely easily, i think this team would be favorites in the second round.

Like Thibs said they should still be able to score what they would with Derrick, it's just going to be harder.

I felt a lot more comfortable before , but I've seen crazier thing happen in sports.

maybe we'll get lucky and square face will get hurt to even things back out.

speaking of that, derrick might need to get on that regimen pretty soon

They will get killed without Rose vs the heat.

Ok, I'll be contrarian. I don't know that the Bulls can beat the Heat in a 7 game series without Rose, but I do think it can be competitive. We have two series to finish before we get there, but I'll say that if the Bulls get to the ECF, they play more than the 5 games they did last year.

Another thing to look forward to is not having Deng for the first half of next season either. If Rose and Deng come back close to their former selves, we may be the best 5 seed the NBA has ever seen.

???

Thought the sarcasm was obvious enough.

I didn't know if he's slated for surgery or something.

If I remember the radio talk, Deng does need surgery to fix his wrist, and he's 100% committed to playing in the Olympics. I don't know how much time that means he'd miss, but if memory serves it would definitely impact his '12-'13 season.

If he requires surgery, is would take 3-4 months to recover, according to this article, as it took him about 4 months to recover from a similar injury his rookie year.

I thought it was 4-6 months for some reason. So he probably won't miss half the season. But assuming he has surgery in August, he's probably not back until December.

The early part of next year is gonna be rough, but if we have Hamilton, Boozer and Noah healthy, we should be able to tread water during the early season monotony.
