RGIII and Welker both tore ACLs and came back to dominate so I'm going to ignore all other counterexamples and assume Rose's recovery will be equally successful.

And don't forget Chris Paul who came back to dominate at the same position

Yes but Chris Paul isnt as explosive as he was before the surgery. He is still a great player but he needed to adjust his game a little when he came back. It's more than likely Rose will have to do the same. He can still be a superstar by its gonna take work to his game if previous results are any indication.

I'm more disappointed in the fact that we won't get to see Bulls vs Heat with both teams relatively healthy. I was really looking forward to that series.

That said, I think my biggest fear is that Rose will never be the same. It's real tough to pull a positive out of this. Anyone know of any NBA players who recently tore their ACL? I'm interested in comparing their explosiveness pre and post injury.

Tom Brady and Tiger Woods

If Rose is gonna be out half of next season, do we sign a 1 year replacement for him like Andre Miller? Or just let CJ Watson take the starting job?

Lol, those two have games very similar to Rose.

Somebody on RealGM brought up Baron Davis when he was in college. But, overall, players rarely come back with 100% explosiveness after these types of injuries. I still think Rose can be dominant given the shooting improvements he's shown over the years though. And an 85-90% Rose is still more explosive than most guards in the NBA.

I have no idea why Steve Nash would want to come to the Bulls.

Does it get tiring being intentionally dense in this thread?

Ok, I'm Steve Nash, an all-star PG. Sell me on coming to a team where their all-star point guard will be back by January at the latest.

ETA: If the answer is chasing a ring, why wouldn't he go to a team that actually needs a PG for an entire season like Miami or LA rather than forcing 2 of them on the court once Rose gets healthy?

Miller sounds like a good fit.

You want to be play for a contender. You are old and cannot play heavy minutes. You want players and a coach that can mask your defensive deficiencies.

It's not rocket surgery.

A shot at winning a ring and won't he still get a ton of playing time even when Rose is back. I doubt he'll jump right in for 40 mins a night.

And the Lakers do have Sessions. It's way premature to say they need a PG next season more than the Bulls do.

Miami makes a lot of sense of course but pretending you can't make any kind of case for the Bulls is just stupid.

Really no reason to get to worked up over this anyways... This is the Bulls CJ will play till Rose is back.

Nash played 31.6 mins/game this year in a compressed season. He led the league in assists this season. He's going to go share PG duties with Rose? Recovering from injury or not, who's going to be running the offense when they're both on the court?

LA having Ramon Sessions is going to prevent them from being a good fit for Nash, but the Bulls having Derrick Rose doesn't?

Sure. Rose can play off of Nash or some other PG. He's not going to come back right away and run the offense for 38 minutes a night. Finding minutes wouldn't be a problem at all.

And yes, a healthy Sessions for a full season isn't more of a question mark than a coming back from torn ACL Rose for who knows how much of the season when you're talking about planning your offseason.

The entire selling point of the Bulls to anyone is Derrick Rose. You're making a pitch to a guy who plays the same position, and basing it around the fact that well, Rose won't be 100% anyway.

"We're not going to back down," Joakim Noah said. "Our margin of error is a lot smaller with Derrick out. Can you replace Derrick? No. But we're not going to let the media or anybody paint the picture for us. We've played well without Derrick before."

"That's the thing about our team," Thibodeau said. "At different times, we've used everybody. We've won games without him. You look at the games he missed and we had John scoring, C.J. scoring. We didn’t have Rip (Richard Hamilton) for a lot of those games and he’s rounding into shape. Carlos (Boozer) can score. We have six guys in double figures. We feel we have enough to score."
