The ignore everyone save for Rose tactic worked, barely, again for the Heat. If, Rip, can get to maybe 90% he'll blow that tactic up also, when the Heat do put James on Rose. Why not pound and run his ass ragged by running him through screen after screen after screen? I don't care who he is, that'll take a big toll over time.

Because the Heat don't do it until the last half of the 4th quarter. I'm also convinced that Lebron James doesn't get worn out.

Either way, if Rip and Deng are both healthy that means Mario Chalmers is guarding Rip and Wade is guarding Deng. Those are mismatches you have to exploit. Unless they are taking Chalmers out and having Lebron play point forward? I didn't get to watch the game yesterday so I don't know who else was on the court when Lebron was guarding Rose.

he's waiting for god to figure out the new cba

hahahaha, exactly

i'm going to let myself believe there's a much greater than non-zero chance of us being able to get d12 with an extension. i would prefer we keep one of deng/taj and asik, but I really don't see some combination of whatever we have available to be greater than the contribution that howard can provide. i would think they'd want someone who can produce a little offense like boozer since that's kind of what they suck at, plus at least one of noah/taj and probably asik. hopefully we can keep asik. then fill in the missing big man with like kmart and a cardboard cutout of shaq in an orlando uniform and i'm good.

man i'm going to be festering troll bait when he ends up in L.A.

I'd give them any 3 of our 4 bigs if it means we keep Deng. Hell I'd give them all 4 if it meant we kept Deng.

Realistically, I think it would be Noah, Gibson, Deng, and picks for Dwight and Turk

He is the deal:

1) Andrew Bynum trumps anything the Bulls can offer for Howard.

2) Howard "actually" wants to play there

3) If LA doesn't trade him for pieces better than we can offer, and he leaves via free agency, we don't have the cap space to get him.

So stop talking about Dwight to the Bulls, it isn't happening.

If Bynum is so great why do the Lakers stink?

Really? You are going there?

Maybe but after Bynum what do they have to offer? The Bulls can offer Noah who is slowly showing his all star form again. Not as good as Bynum and less upside but a solid piece. They can also offer Deng who is a borderline all star talent, is a great glue guy and does a lot of things well and is still relatively young. Finally, the one thing LA can't offer is the Bobcats pick we have, which is at worst going to be a top 12 pick, at best a high lottery pick. A very valuable piece to offer considering how far away the Bobcats look to be from contending. One player alone is not going to get the trade done, its doing to be who offers the best package.

2) Howard "actually" wants to play there

I don't think the Magic will care if Howard wants to play for the Lakers or not, they will trade him to the Bulls if GarPax is willing to gamble.

3) If LA doesn't trade him for pieces better than we can offer, and he leaves via free agency, we don't have the cap space to get him.

That's the thing its a gamble. Would the normally conservative Pax be willing to take the biggest risk of his career? There have been small signs that suggest the Bulls are very interested in Howard and have been watching these discussions very closely. I wouldn't be surprised if Pax made the gamble, but I wouldnt be surprised if he didn't as well.

If the Bulls were to give up Noah, Deng and Bobcats pick for Howard and he leaves, you have a good amount of cap space and a starting 5 of Rose, Rip, Brewer, Boozer, Asik with Asik, Butler, Watson on the bench. A gutted team no doubt but they would be in a better position than probably 20 of the 30 teams.

Why not?

The Lakers suck this year. If Bynum is really a potential franchise player they'd be a lot better than they are. He's a product of the LA hype machine. Productive, but often injured, and he alone is not better than the package mentioned above.

I don't know the cap implications or whatever but Mirotic is another piece I'm sure the Magic are kicking the tires on.

Very good point. And if they don't trade him, he's another great piece that could make up for the loss of Deng and Noah (via Howard)

Well, you two have fun in your fantasy land where Dwight is a possibility. I'll be laughing at you from reality. He isn't coming.

Isn't that Bobcats pick partially protected for like 40 years?

It was lottery protected this year, and every subsequent year it becomes two fewer picks protected until 2016.

The Knicks trade for Anthony makes me less likely (and probably irrationally so) to want to gut the team to trade for him. It's irrational because Howard is way more impactful than Carmelo but at the same time, I kind of have somewhat of an emotional attachment to pretty much everyone on this Bulls team. I even love me some Boozer even though a good chunk of Bulls fans hate him.

The Knicks were gutting a team that wasn't any good to get Melo. The Bulls are gutting a team that won 62 games and aren't giving up its best player in the hypothetical deal. Way different.

I could see the Bulls being worse off on winning a title this season if you pull the trigger on a Dwight trade because of all the depth you lose but they'd be set for years if Howard extends.

That's true, the Knicks have been a poorly run franchise for so long and the Bulls have put together a very good team indicating that well, they aren't.

The biggest thing for me is that I don't know if I want to part with Deng or not if he's part of the deal, this however, understanding that since I have watched pretty much every Bulls game the past couple of years I may be over valuing him but there is just so much that he does and does at a high level.

Then again, inserting Howard may make what Deng does not as necessary and make him more expendable so who knows.

The single greatest impact of trading Deng is what we saw yesterday. It leaves us with nobody (maybe JB in a year or 2) to guard LeBron. That said, I make the deal without thinking twice and without a guarantee of him resigning.

i don't think any of us would gamble on the possibility that dwight is coming, but it's kind of stupid to totally rule it out. and it certainly doesn't hurt to hope.

Yup I'd put the chances of the Bulls getting Howard somewhere around 5% or so but there is a chance based on everything I've read. Other than Howards desire to come here, the next biggest thing is that GarPax is very very interested in acquiring Howard and not just doing due diligence on him. As for Howards interest, he very slightly opened the door regarding coming to Chicago...its not insane to see things change 3-4 times over the course of the next couple of months. Heck in one 24 hour period, Howard demanded a trade, listed teams he would go to, added another team, and then mostly reminded his trade demand.

But all that said its certainly highly unlikely that he comes here, but I don't pretend to know with certainty that he's not going to a particular place as if I knew what was really in Howard's mind.
