Angelo sounds like he got into Hurd's stash:

"When asked if this incident would imperil his job, Angelo told the reporter that he's just "whistling Dixie.""

My favorite part is when he says they have a proven "mythology" for doing background checks. How does an idiot who can't speak in public effectively become the GM of an NFL franchise?

Well, an idiot who can't speak in public effectively was elected President not that long ago (not talking about Obama, either)

hopefully Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and Greg Jennings

I very much doubt it, but you never know. I just have a feeling once we learn more this story is going to be a bombshell.

the part where an NFL player was positioning himself to be a drug lord, yes. The part where NFL players buy cocaine and pot? Not so much.

With the quantities they're talking, Hurd could likely be the supplier to a double-digit number of NFL players who are also dealing. Busting a ring of pro athlete drug dealers would definitely be a bigger deal than finding a handful of players dabble in coke and/or weed.

A "handful?" Please. Tons of these guys are doing plenty more than "dabbling." At the end of the day whether they get it from a guy like Hurd or outside of the league the end result is the same.

I was drawing a distinction between dealing to a bunch of Fred Davises and supplying a ring of NFL dealers. The latter sounds like a much bigger deal to me than the former.

My point is that there's a ton of drug use in the league already; if they're getting it from another player or an outside dealer, the end result is still the same. Busting Hurd doesn't really change anything.
