UCLA-Oregon line starts at 30.5. Has there ever been a conference championship game with that sort of line?

The only conference title game with that type of mismatch I can recall is Texas/Colorado in 05 (when the Horns won 70-3 or something). That'd be the only one that would come close, I'd think.

So is it a big deal if an official posts photographs of himself on the Internet wearing a team's garb when he actually officiates games where that school is playing? What about if he posts on a message board referring to that team as "we" even though he didn't actually go to school there? Would that be cause for concern?

Is it a B1G ref wearing Michigan garb?

wait, what?

Some Internet sleuths have been doing some work over the past 24 hours or so. Seems a Big 12 official who graduated from Tulsa had pictures on Facebook (the account has since been deleted) of himself wearing a Texas sweatshirt. They have also found a Google images view of his house and parked in the driveway is a car with a Longhorns sticker on it. Furthermore, it appears that he has been posting on a Texas A&M message board quite often about officiating calls and when talking about one particular call in a Texas-Kansas State game referred to the Horns as "we".

Oh yeah, he's the one that threw the very questionable personal foul flag on A&M on the last drive that won the game for Texas on Thanksgiving night. I'm not saying he cost us the game, but the evidence is disturbing.

So just to let you know, similar rumors have been going around about Michiganfan/refs in football and Indianafan/refs in BB for years.

Oh I'm sure these rumors aren't anything new and I was quick to dismiss them when they first popped up yesterday. But there seems to be more & more credible evidence in this particular case.

the big ten isnt actually paying people to go to the game

I am going. I got rather cheap seats for the game...it actually cost us quite a bit more for the Michigan/Illinois game. I also looked to go to the MSU/Northwestern game last week and it would have cost a little more than what I paid for the B1G title game.

Those aTm internet sleuths are having a busy week.

Deadspin seems to think it's mostly from one section at the 50 yard line and maybe some entity backed out of buying the seats in the last minute.

They were probably for the Second Mile program.

It was a weak call but the way the rule reads it was the right call. Don't lead with your crown and don't hit someone in the face or head with it.

Don't some of the bowl invitations start getting announced now or do they all happen next week?

I think most happen on Sunday, but normally a handful come out before because there's no other option or an automatic tie. Some circumstances like the Big East's cluster and none of the service academies or Hawaii reaching eligibility yet may cut down on that this year.

The increase in number of championship games means the conference standings are somewhat in flux, at least more so than past years, which postpones some invites.

Did the Pac-12 and Big 10 have a bunch of accepted invites prior to championship games in previous years? I didn't really pay attention. I thought it was more in the bowls that had non-AQ ties.

I vaguely remember at least reading about locks for which bowl they would attend by now. Without the championship game you pretty much had your two BCS likely teams locked in and the rest already figured out. Right now they have 2-3 BCS candidates depending on the outcomes of these games.

Looks like I won't get to watch the UCLA-Oregon beatdown tonight since the power is out here. Yay?
