Deadspin tries to get past the recent string of bad news by listing some still happy things about happy valley.

5. The Local Weather Reports Must Be Very Accurate Because AccuWeather Is Based There

According to AccuWeather, the company's State College headquarters are "home to the greatest number of forecast meteorologists in one location anywhere in the world." If it's going to rain in Happy Valley, you will definitely be made aware of it beforehand, and you can plan ahead and bring an umbrella.

Finally the logic behind Truffle's argument revealed.

considering that they paid me like 1/4 of my current salary to work more hours and more weekends at a worse time of day, i don't think that's it. morale at accuweather is regularly worse than it is in the psu football program right now.

Sorry if I missed this, but 670 is reporting that someone threw cinder blocks through Sandusky's windows.

Honestly I'm surprised there hasn't been an angry mob gathered on his lawn.

I'm pretty sure that harassing a sex offender is a fairly serious crime in itself and even though Sandusky hasn't yet been convicted I'm sure the police intervention would take place and any one caught on his front lawn itself would be in pretty big trouble. I'm far from a lawyer though.

lol the police would break that up super quick.

Listening to the press conferences and the attitudes of some people at the game (like giving the players a standing ovation afterwards) you would think that the players, fans and Penn State student body are the victims. Problem is, this isn't about them at all and it's kind of pissing me off.

I don't know. I could see a similar thing happening on many campuses, given the same circumstances.

I think they would and it would annoy the [expletive] out of me then too.

I don't know if I can. Are there really any other major universities that have the kind of isolation that PSU does?

What do you mean? PSU isn't close to the only university sitting well away from civilization.

Well, that's part of it, but I was more referring to their tendency to not bring in outsiders. From what I've read, most everybody on campus has some sort of ties to the school, from sports personnel to professors. It just sounds like in general there's really a lot of groupthink being fostered because there's not any (or very little) outside influence in any part of the institution.

I could easily see schools like Iowa, Wisconsin, a lot SEC schools, West Virginia, any school where football is king, acting in a similar manner.

Me too. I see what you're saying mul, but I think this type of reaction would happen elsewhere too. Though I admit it's pretty tough to gage because (hopefully) this is a pretty rare event.

They really are the lowest common denominator of college fb, so I'm not really suprised

Your outright hatred for PSU has passed from annoying to embarrassing.
