Not sure if giving up on Vitters is the best idea. I still think he has a shot to be very good.

He has very little shot at being "very" good. He's got a shot at being a decent contributor. And if you have to give up a prospect who is actually a prospect, he's your guy.

When you trade a guy that doesn't mean you are giving up on him, it means you prefer the value you are receiving from the other team.

C.C. is totally Fisher Stevens in Hackers.

I think about two people including you have actually seen Hackers.

I'd give him up in a heartbeat. He's a long shot in the best of terms to become very good.

That was reported a few pages down. That's a no-brainer.

Has a Chicago paper broken any part of this situation?

Rogers was pretty consistently on the Theo angle in the weeks prior, but that's about it. Speaks to how well Ricketts keeps stuff quiet, that all the information has to get out from the Boston side.

Vitters to Boston = :yahoo:

Wait! Is that news? Has it been reported or are you just being silly in the silly thread?

That's probably been the most impressive thing. Either Ricketts is great at keeping [expletive] quiet or chicago reports really do suck at getting information.

It's been by far the most likely outcome, but I hadn't seen anything yet saying there'd been official word from the bosses.

Bernstein is saying that his "city sources" tell him that Emmanuel is ecstatic about this and really wants to help them with the money. He just needs them to frame it in such a way that he can make it fly.

Gotta love politics.

Jesus Christ... it's hard to fathom that the 08 team basically had an .800 OPS as a freaking TEAM. Including all the pitcher AB's and scrub guys at the end of the bench. Wow.

Yeah, I feel bad for the people that can only dwell on the playoff sweep. Yes, the ending sucked, but it's a long baseball season ahead of it, and it was pretty [expletive] great.

I went to like 15-20 games that year...including two in Cincy and one at Milwaukee...the last game of that series sweep when we pulled away from them in late July. Season was a [expletive] blast.

Except we weren't left handed enough.

That is excellent news.
