I never comment really on sport writers, I just read the article for information and think nothing of it, but my God, Rosenbloom is the biggest, negative douche Iv'e ever seen. He whines and complains about every little thing and thinks he's clever and funny. Right away he pisses on Theo coming here with this article. How in the hell does this guy have and keep a job? It's just pure trash he spews out in his garbage that he writes.

Epstein, see, has yet to win a Series without a juiced-up middle of the order.

Damn, didn't even think of that. Call everything off.

he ignores the fact that epstein had the forward thinking to acquire ortiz when the other teams had no interest.

So with Theo on his way over, who else does he bring in? Hahn? The Trib suggested Glanville in some capacity, which would be a bit intriguing...

Will Carroll guessed a reuniting with Byrnes as assistant.

I wonder whether MLB will pour through that compensation package as well.

It's the consistent regular season success. Or more specifically, the amazing drafting and trading history.

f-that I want RINGS

He's working on it. An image from 2017 or so:

Two of them are Boston's rings.

For once in your [expletive] life be right about this Will.

Ricketts outlined his plan to build through the farm system while also spending wisely on the acquisition of veteran stars who can make an immediate impact on the Cubs. In fact, sources tell us that Ricketts is not opposed to spending big money on a star player, but for him to sign a mega contract the player must fit long-term with the organization. The acquisition of Adrian Gonzalez by the Red Sox is the type of player and commitment that Ricketts is willing to take on with the Cubs. He looks at Gonzalez as a star player, in the prime of his career and a player who is solid both offensively and defensively in addition to being a person of impeccable character. When opportunities like that come along he wants his Cubs to be in a position to make a move for a superstar. It was that willingness to spend when it makes sense in addition to the increased power and salary that will come with his contract that sold Epstein on Ricketts vision for the organization.

In addition, Tom Ricketts stressed to Epstein that the family was committed to the Cubs long term and that it wanted to build the franchise the right way. Not trying to quick-fix the major league roster to improve the record. Instead, he showed Epstein his plans for a new spring training complex, a new state of the art academy in the talent rich Dominican Republic, a long term plan for renovating Wrigley Field and thus increasing revenue streams that will impact the major league payroll. Additionally, Ricketts told Epstein of his family's willingness to spend heavily in the draft and on international signings which should translate to a rapidly improving farm system.

Now I'm curious as to what "Lord and Savior" linked to. Jesus seems inadequate.

It was Jesus.

First line: "Theo Nathan Epstein (born December 29, 1973) is the former General Manager of the Boston Red Sox, and in 2011 moved to the Chicago Cubs."

If wiki says it, it has to be true

You are pretty much right on, Stevo. If they can get Epstein it all depends on what they have to give Boston. One of the wonks on CTL last night suggested Garza. How do these jokers get on that show. Why would you give up one of the best pitchers in the league? Give me Kaplan's email address so I can tell him to get you on there. At least you make sense.

Check them again. If you look closely, all three are Cubs world series rings.

I'm assuming there's 4 more on his other hand that isn't pictured.

My friend from Boston says Dan Duquette built the 2 championships, not Theo. He is a bit of a meathead, so I expect you guys to tell me how wrong he is here.

The first one you might be able to make a case for. But the second one? Not a chance. Pure meatheadery.

Besides, it's not the specific rings that makes him an awesome candidate. It's the consistent regular season success. Or more specifically, the amazing drafting and trading history.

Here, I took 22 of the major players on the 2004 Red Sox and tracked who brought them on board.

Duquette:Jason Varitek

Manny Ramirez

Trot Nixon

Johnny Damon

Pedro Martinez

Tim Wakefield

Derrek Lowe

Alam Embree

Brian Daubach

Kevin Youkilis (played a bit role in 2004)

Theo:

Curt Schilling (trade)

David Ortiz (FA)

Kevin Millar (FA)

Bill Mueller (FA)

Orlando Cabrera (trade)

Mark Bellhorn (FA)

Bronson Arroyo (trade)

Keith Foulke (trade I think)

Pokey Reese (FA)

Doug Mientkiewicz (trade)

Dave Roberts (trade)

Ramiro Mendoza (FA)

So yes, a lot of the key Red Sox that they couldn't have won the title without came from Duquette. But in the 2 years that Theo was on the team he managed to bring in 10-12 key contributors that made up a championship team, including the teams premier star for the next decade (Ortiz) and the ace pitcher.

Theo is a Man of Sophistication. Despite having many, many rings to choose from, he only wears three at a time. More would be tacky.
