I know, that's what I've been saying all year long. We need D Rose on the ice somehow someway.

You missed my point completely. The Blackhawks are finished. If DRose doesn't take the Bulls deep into the playoffs, this summer will be filled with nothing more than a ton of Cubs losses.

Missed your point, yes. I wasn't even assuming you are a Blackhawks fan. I thought you posted in the wrong thread, LOL.

I'd rather this team do something about everybody else on the ice rather than spend huge on a goaltender.

The biggest need is a capable goalie right now. I'm not a huge fan of spending big cash on a goaltender, but Crawford was one of the worst starting goaltenders in the league this year. That's a position that needs to be addressed somehow in the offseason.

The biggest need of this team is to figure out how to score on the pp. all that high priced talent and stars and they are collectively incompetent. Goalies come and go.

They need a point man for the PP. Part of Bowman's problem has been getting rid of guys that have a defined role on the team, and then not finding an adequate replacement for the guy that he ships out.

I totally understood the reasoning behind the Campbell trade. I even thought it was necessary going forward. I thought Hossa could've manned the PP unit, but they hardly ever went that route this year. Once they find the right guy to run the PP, I think they'll be pretty good there.

Nothing. I think this is a fair punishment. Maybe even too severe.

But here's something I thought of the other day. What if in a situation like that the perp got suspended and another guy on his team went as well. A player of the league's choice commensurate with the player injured. Would help avoid guys like Torres trading themselves for Hossa. But would introduce much for subjectivity.

too severe?

I figured 10-15. It's just over what I expected. Back in the day Hunter got 21 I think.

gotcha. hard to put a price tag on something like this, i certainly wasn't expecting this much, but i could easily see it being more. it sucks that by freak chance he could only end up serving one game next year. he needs to sit for at least 20 games in the regular season for this to be at all an effective punishment.

time to win three straight boys

it's a shame that 25 games raffi torres won them a playoff series.

what's to stop teams from doing the same to any star in the league?

i dunno, code of honor and players not wanting to forfeit a lot of salary. i mean, this is a pretty harsh penalty. most guys who have gotten 20+ games have done things like swinging a stick into another player's head. this is more of a "hockey play" than trying to decapitate someone with your stick.

too bad it got to this point though. the montage in the suspension video makes it obvious that torres just doesn't get it (about checking late and targeting the head). if this suspension doesn't get the message across, then he probably needs to be suspended for at least a year if not banned outright.

I have a feeling that if this happens again that may be the result. Wouldn't be surprised if he was told that in his hearing.

For once Shanahan did a good job in his video of laying out the particulars and to me it made sense that it was 25 games.

He broke 3 NHL rules (Charging, Interference an Illegal targeting of head), the hit was intentional as he left his feet before making contact (he acknowledged that sometimes a players skates can come off ice in the process of finishing a check). Hossa was also severely injured and hast played since, and Torres has been fined or suspended for similar hits 5 times in the last few seasons, all of which he intentionally targeted the head, including 2 other incidents this year.)

I honestly think there is no too much this time. He knew what he was doing and knew what he was risking by doing it and he could have altered Hossas career with the hit. He deserved whatever he got. If you want to argue about precedent I guess you could argue it was too much, but since when has Shanahans punishments ever relied on precedent. I'm just happy the wheel landed on 25.

2 nights ago was a terrible night for Chicago sports as all 4 teams in action lost.

Today so far the Cubs won, the White Sox won with a perfect game, the bulls have started up well against Dallas and Rose is back.... Good sign!

I think if the Hawks can get the OT goal tonight this series will go 7. I can't see the Hawks losing at home 3 times in one series. Also the Hawks are due for one of those scoring outbursts they are known for. Hopefully that's tonight.

Maybe I'm just being a homer but I think the Hawks win tonight, something like 5-3 with Smith getting pulled in the 2nd after giving up 5 goals and the Hawks withstanding a couple Phoenix goals in the 3rd.

I just think the team should play short a roster spot when a player is suspended. The more I think about this the more I like it. Teams would think twice before adding a Raffi Torres type of player. Since the Coyotes will not really miss Torres play they will be punished to a certain degree by having to play short a player. It also will get the teams themselves on board in cleaning up this stupidity.

nope of course we cant keep it in the zone and we don't have any time to do anything with the 2 man advantage. [expletive] this PP

4 straight minutes of power play and of course nothing to show from it.

We aren't going to come back from down 3-1 without ever scoring on the PP. I cant wait for this season to be over.

Again can't argue with that start. 4 shots allowed. Just gotta bury some chances.

Pretty much the way the first couple of periods went the last two games yet it never feels like they are out playing them. Just seems like they are waiting for the Hawks to [expletive] up, which they do because they aren't that great of a team.

yup thats been the problem all series...we cant get any cushion between us and Phoenix. The Hawks have outshot them every game, and in 3 of the games the difference in SOG was more than 10, but we're down 3-1. For some reason the Hawks just take the worst shots...I know its part of their strategy to fling it on net and hope for a redirect/rebound, but the Hawks are not physical enough to be in the position to take advantage of a good rebound most of the time.
