I missed the first period and Hossa's goal to start the 2nd.

Carcillo actually made a couple nice passes to Hossa and overall didn't look bad on the 2nd line.

Leddy didn't make any glaring mistakes which is really what I want most from him.

Why didn't Bickell take the wide open shot? I hate when the Hawks try to get cute and make one pass too many.

Overall, the play was a little ragged and a better team would have beat the Hawks in regulation. Last year's team would have either lost this game in regulation or OT.

I gotta admit, I greatly enjoyed Ladd whiffing like three times in a row trying to shoot the puck and then ending up on his ass. As well as Wellwood's stumble over the blue line.

i want to see what umfan looks like. dont be shy.

Oh that's right, you are too young to be a part of the original NSBB photo thread.

im pretty sure i've looked through that thread, but a lot of the photos were down and a lot of the people who posted in it were people who were before my time

ah yeah. That was a fun thread...back in the day when Facebook didn't exist so you had no idea what people looked like unless they felt like sharing.

Anyways, if you want to see what I look like, look up Tony DeMaria on Facebook, I don't think I have much in the way of privacy settings so feel free to oogle me to your hearts content.

Oh damn, that was Laddy (not to be confused with Leddy)? I couldn't tell but I was laughing my ass off with the whiffs. The Carcillo collision with Hossa happened right in front of me. Had SCF flashbacks there.

Good win last night. They did more than enough to win, and got the 2 points against an inferior opponent at home. I'm satisfied. I think the missed chances evened out a bit. There were several where the Hawks could easily have scored. Emery was decent -- good enough to win. You can't hold him responsible for redirects, but the third goal was one that should have been stopped, but Emery really lost his net (not the first time last night, either).

This is a game the Hawks would probably have lost early last season.

That was definitely Ladd. Good stuff.

The third line is giving me wood.

YES! It's so damn nice to feel comfortable you can get scoring from your first 3 lines again, and makes it easier to allow your 4th line to be a pure checking line.

I'm a Jets fan, and was at the game last night. A few ex-Wolves played well for us, but Ladd's offpuck positioning has been terrible & I've lost count how many times Byfuglien has been caught behind his own forwards on the backcheck on an opponent's rush. The 4th line has played impressively.

On the Jets board I post at, a few fans commented apparently how a.) Jets fans were louder, b.) the atmosphere was dead, and c.) it was constant war as Chicago fans had to constantly drown out our fans. I was at the game, and tried to correct their misconceptions. Apparently, a few fans had a Go Jets Go chant caught near the TSN mic which obviously means A, B, & C are all true. God, it's appalling how arrogant and delusional our fan base - one which didn't have a team for 15 years - is.

Yeah that didn't happen. I did see a decent number of Jets and Thrashers fans, but never once did I hear a chant for the Jets. Not saying it didn't happen elsewhere in the arena, but it definitely wasn't loud enough to be heard.

And yeah, the atmosphere wasn't dead. Maybe compared to the first couple of Jets games at their new home, but it was plenty loud at the UC last night.

I wish the Blackhawks would be shown on WGN America in addition to the Chicago Station although America's Funniest Home video reruns are exciting.

Game is on NHLN if you have it.

Not good to be without Hossa for a game like this, but it sounds like the injury is no big deal.

Damn that was a sick save by Thomas on Kane.

This game is being played at a very high level by both teams. Good stuff.

Well that sucked. But you can't take an entire period off like they did in the third and beat a team like Boston.
