What's with the pictures of the guy in a suit on what I assume is the CF scoreboard and some sort of advertising/video board by the LF bleachers/foul pole?

And yes, that's a ton of green. Would look better if the walls were blue and the backdrop was black/grey.

The batter's eye is being repainted black.

quote of the article:

One Marlin who isn’t complaining is right-handed reliever Steve Cishek, who not only throws with a near sidearm delivery but also stands on the side of the rubber closest to third base.

He said he welcomes any advantage he can get. If his pitches look to left-handed hitters like they’re eggs popping out of one of the pink flamingos painted on the sculpture, he’s not going to protest.

does the mlb test for shrooms?

only 70% of readers voted the home run monstrosity as "horrible," with another 15% going for "slightly less than horrible." but hey, that leaves 15% who think it's great or not bad!

David Samson's been very busy

Assembled reports from the first ST game at the new stadium:

- Fish are in the tanks behind home plate.

- The home run "sculpture" was peppered by home runs in batting practice.

- Roof closed before the game due to storm clouds, took 13 minutes.

- PA System was almost inaudible.

- Both teams LF's said there was a strong draft coming from the left field stands, where there will be a mini-nightclub.

- Umpires didn't know ground rules, asked team president David Samson about them before the game, he didn't have a clue.

The Marlins are just on a roll;

Reflecting on the controversy surrounding the Miami Marlins' new baseball stadium and parking complex, team President David Samson on Tuesday had some colorful and critical words for elected officials, pundits and even Miamians as a whole. "I don't have to hold back now that the stadium is built — not that I ever have," Mr. Samson said while addressing a group of about 75 people who came to hear him speak at a Beacon Council breakfast meeting. He called politicians "not the intellectual cream of the crop," adding about the entire population, "We're not the smartest people in Miami. If you're in this room, you're instantly in the top 1%."

Mr. Samson also had a few words about state officials. "I went to Tallahassee," he said. "I don't know what they do up there. There are so many special interests. You walk through the building, and they're watching "Family Feud.' You see people running around, working on legislation. All I know is that gavel goes down and nothing gets done."

About their fake plan to move to Las Vegas, and how the casinos would buy all the tickets(huh??)

"We don't care if nobody comes," Mr. Samson recalled with a smile. "We'll play in front of nobody, and we'll have all the money."

Casinos were going to pay for people to be somewhere other than a casino?

Their theory was the casinos would buy the tickets in order to keep people in the casinos. Which is really quite the false dichotomy.
