I wouldn't say he's fallen out of favor. He's been around for only a year or so and he's proven to be productive. It sounds more like his GM is a douche who doesn't like him playing around on the internet and is letting that affect his ability to properly manage a baseball team. I seriously doubt they trade him

It's more than his twitter shenanigans. He's been taking shots at Hanley Ramirez, and skipped a season ticket holder meet and greet the day he was demoted to AAA.

After the team fucked him over on his own charity event.

This is yet another exhibit in the case against Jeff Loria. Can't have any sass talk from the proles, no sir. This scumbag is right up there with Dan Snyder and Don Sterling.

He's much worse than them. He's not even human.

At the same time the Marlins announced Morrison’s demotion, they released veteran infielder Wes Helms, who was batting .191.

But Helms’ departure comes after he advised Morrison not to attend a team-related function before Saturday’s game.

Morrison had already attended an autograph signing earlier Saturday, an event that lasted longer than planned. When he arrived at Sun Life Stadium, he found out the team was expected to attend a meet-and-greet with season ticket holders.

That’s when Morrison balked, still angry at the way the Florida Marlins Community Foundation handled a planned charity bowling tournament that was canceled because of a lack of interest.

He consulted with Helms, the team’s union rep, who advised him he didn’t have to attend the meet-and-greet. Helms did attend that event.

I don't really care whether Morrison or the Marlins are at fault. It just sounds like the two parties are unhappy.

That being said, it would make me very happy if he were to somehow wind up in the Cubs organization, but the chances of him being traded are probably next to nothing

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the Marlins/Loria decided to shop Morrison around. Now, their front office is relatively shrewd when making deals, so they'd want a bundle, and I'm not sure the Cubs have said bundle to entice them. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they shipped him off, though. The one thing that may hold them back is the desire to have a competitive squad to move into the new stadium.

Well just for shiggles, what would the Marlins need (besides an adequate replacement)?

Now that I think about it, actually, Morrison came up as a 1B but moved to the OF because he was blocked by Gaby Sanchez.

If the Cubs were to target Morrison it could be as a long term 1B solution if they miss out on Fielder or Pujols (or Berkman if they choose to chase after him)

It's just that that's a lot of money for Florida to pick up for an underperforming player. It really doesn't fit into their payroll, and is very unlikely to even go past the initial offer from Hendry.

Plus has Morrison even cleared waivers?

Phil Rogers in today's Tribune suggest Morrison to the White Sox as compensation for Ozzie Guillen. How about Hendry, Quade, and Zambrano for Morrison. :yahoo:

The Marlins already have a very good GM, I'm not sure what use they would have for Hendry. And I reiterate, Z has a no trade clause and a big salary the Marlins likely cannot afford. I'm not sure Mike Quade is an in demand manager either.

Jeff Loria has made ridiculous moves in the past over personal [expletive]. I would not be surprised at all to see Morrison dealt this winter.
