Giants DFA's Miguel Tejada and Aaron Rowand (lol)

Sabean should be thanking his lucky stars for Lincecum, Cain, Wilson, and Sandoval, as any GM would, but if it weren't for those guys coming through the system to get him a WS, he's made some moves that could put him up there, or should I say down there with Hendry, Colleti, and Minaya. Barry Zito probably tops those 2 though.

Sabean deserves all of the blame for the Giants' fade this season. That offensive is reprehensibly bad and Ray Charles could see that relying on washed-up veterans like Tejada, Ross, Huff, Burrell, Torres, etc. for a full 162-game season is just begging for trouble. And the decision to go with a 37-year-old Tejada at SS deserves firing on its own merit.

There is a lot of truth in that, but that offense isn't as bad on paper as it has been reality. Losing Posey really hurt, but while an offense with Sandoval, Huff, Tejada, Ross, etc. (and now Beltran) wasn't going to be good, it shouldn't be this bad.

But yeah, Sabean's teams have won in spite of him.

Braves Pursued Jamey Carroll, Seek Infield Depth

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [August 31 at 6:45pm CST]

The Braves pursued Jamey Carroll, but the Dodgers have said they're holding onto the infielder, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman (Twitter links). However, Atlanta GM Frank Wren says he could still address one area of need tonight. According to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves continue to pursue middle infield depth (Twitter link).

If they wanted Carroll, they should have some interest in Jeff Baker. Maybe even DeWitt. If happily try to send them one and bring up LeMahieu or Flaherty.

I have to admit I'm irrationally angry about how they've jerked Brandon Belt around for the better part of an entire season. If they honestly had just brought him up in May and let him get 4 ABs a night, who names (1) where he'd be as a hitter and (2) how many more wins the Giants might have.
