I love Kerry Wood, and I doubt he's the driving force from bringing back Sammy. But in case he is, quit being a baby, it was 10 years ago, let Sammy have his moment.

Dammit when I saw this bumped I was hoping someone posted news about Sammy throwing out the first pitch at a potential playoff game or something.

I almost wonder if the clubs informal relationship with Kerry Wood has anything to do with not welcoming him back yet. As we all know, Kerry destroyed the boombox, so I'm guessing he was one of teammates that couldn't stand him. Perhaps the organization wants him back but really wants Sammy to publicly grovel, so that it doesn't look to guys like Woody and Lee and other former Sosa teammates the team has a relationship with like they are just caving in.

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought Wood was quoted earlier this year saying that the club should welcome Sosa back.

I stand corrected if true.

There's not really that many people left in the organization that would have been personally upset with Sosa. Crane Kenney is the most prominent person I can think of still with the Cubs but I'm sure I'm missing someone.

"He added a lot of things to the Chicago Cubs and a lot of things to baseball," Williams says. "I'd like to see Sammy come back and everybody welcome him with open arms."

Says Wood: "If you talk to him, tell him he's got several ex-teammates who would love to see him."

It's pretty clearly a directive from metaball Ricketts
