Nice outing Marmol. I'm sure the Cardinals hitters appreciate the batting practice.

1 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 K

There were at least 5 batters who hit him hard in the inning.

I still think Marmol should hit the DL for a while.

He can catch a ride with Soriano. His ABs lately are worst I've ever seen him look. He's not this bad.

May the next 2000 be as a Cub!

Nice to see that at least one person recognized the moment (if half-heartedly). I'm a little disappointed in this place.

Wherever he ends up, it's quite a story that deserves recognition.

You're disappointed that the 4 people who actually posted in this game thread didn't acknowledge the opposing player on our arch rivals hitting a meaningless milestone that everyone knew he would eventually get?

Maybe you are expecting way too much from a fanbase that can barely muster any enthusiasm for our own team.

2 games in a row that we've been on the blown call end of close plays at first to complete a DP

I was frustrated about that one too. But as it turns out, though it was clearly the wrong call (but still VERY close), that's one less Cubs AB we had to sit through. Chalk a point up for the anti-replay argument. :-"

Last time the CUBS allowed 7 doubles in a game.... Thu 12 May 2011 (7 2b) in a 9-1 loss to St. Louis at Wrigley

[sigh] It's like deja vu all over again.

Getting 2000 hits is "quite a story? Todd Zeile and Shawn Green each got over 2000 hits in their career, was that quite a story that deserved recognition?

nobody is recognizing anything that happens during cubs games because the team is awful and most of us don't bother wasting our time watching games that are meaningless to the team that we support. plus we are not The Best Fans in Baseball™ so we're not required to politely admire the accomplishments of opposing players.
