On Iowas site, it looks like McNutts been passed over again, and they have Searle as the SP. Maybe its just an error on their part, as they had McNutt going yesterday when Raley did or maybe hes hurt. Or maybe their just doing the inevitable and moving him to the pen.

Su-Min Jung now getting the start for Boise.

WSR, I assumed they were wrong again today and listed McNutt instead. Initially, Tennessee had McNutt yesterday, Raley today and Searle tomorrow.

That sounds awfully ... early to feel that way. I think McNutt was a bit overhyped (at least, I think his ceiling was overhyped), but he was rushed a bit, has been banged up. He needs innings to work on consistency. I expect to see him in AFL to get some extra innings.

I guess that should have been in green.

Well, let me answer that by first saying that, what I thought earlier in the year was that his perceived ceiling, based on last year, was a bit over-hyped. I say that in an effort to note that it's not that he can't reach that top level ceiling if development goes well, just that he was a bit over-hyped.

In saying that, I think he's got a chance to be a starting caliber arm. I question, and I fully acknowledge I probably over-hyped him in comments at the end of last year as well (although I never moved him ahead of Archer), if this is a TOR type of potential talent. I see him more as a good mid-rotation arm, assuming positive enough development, maybe a borderline 2 type starter.

I'll be glad if this ends up being wrong in that he's better than this.

Matt Szczur is 0-2 so far tonight, so that's 1-11 since the promotion. Logan Watkins is 1-2 with a double, Daytona's only hit through 4.

BJax doubled again.

And then stole 3rd, and scored on a single by LeMahieu. LaHair hit his 26th HR of the year to put Iowa up 3-0.

Very encouraged to see 3 solid outings in a row from Jay now. Solid night from all of the recent promotees, if that's a word, Ha 3-3 Szczur 2-5' as well as Jackson and Flaherty. McNutt was indeed skipped again for Searle, so it might be time to start wondering what's going on there.

I wonder if all his new teammates have bad attitudes, which leads to him not getting along with them and not hitting well because of it?

Before I decide to get halfway excited about Jay again(and I really want to) I really want to hear some sort of velo readings on him: Is he still throwing mid-80's or has he amped back up into the low 90's, which was where he's been the vast majority of his minor league career. If it's the latter, I'll go ahead and say I hope he's next in line for that very prolific 5th spot in our rotation, that's been so awesome for us all season long.......

Outside of the Keith Law thing (can't seem to find a link for that right now ... where was it again?), was there another report of mid-80's? And wasn't the Law report high-80's? I know JJax was throwing low 90's for a stretch this year.

All that said, while I am excited about his solid stretch, and while it seems like a measure of bad luck factored into his struggles in Iowa this year, he's still a flyball pitcher whose K rate is still declining. The improved BB rates can only take him so far. It just seems like he might be more valuable as a pen arm, where his velocity might be better, allowing his slider to play off it a bit better.

This absolutely cracked me up. Good job.
