Well, I won't lie. I didn't expect to be starting this thread, but I'll be at the game so it's just as well.

Do me a favor Cubs and let me start the next 3 threads as well.

Go Cubs.

It's so weird to see the resurgence of the Pirates but at the same time their hitting has been a huge disappointment IMO

Only 1 player with more than 40 ABs has an OPS higher than .776, only 2 players with more than 100 ABs has an OPS over .707. Of the 10 players who have had more than 100 ABs, only 2 have a SLG% over .386, and no one has a SLG more than .491.

We're doing it all with ridiculously good pitching and ridiculously good fielding. I can't explain it. Not going to try. Just enjoying the ride.

Pirates are a poor man's version of the San Francisco Giants (literally). Plus, been extremely lucky. Hitting 50 OPS points higher with runners in scoring position. The NL average is only 16 points higher with RISP.

meh, a lot of their guys are doing about what i would've expected. neil walker is all right but last year was fluky. snyder has been fine. ronny cedeno is what we thought he was. pedro alvarez is the guy who's been the huge disappointment, and overbay has also been poor. tabata needs to find a way to hit for more power. mccutcheon has been terrific, should get serious mvp consideration and should be their cornerstone. garrett jones is garrett jones.

Who is the color guy for the Pirates? He seems to really hate the Cubs, or maybe he's just bad and that's why he's calling Pirate games.

Radio or TV ?

Bob Walk. Greg Brown is the play by play. Unless I'm confusing them. Which is possible - they're equally annoying.

Root Sports is the new broadcaster, taking over from Fox sports, and all of the announcers seem to be more Rah Rah this season. (Same guys as last year)

I was never a fan of walk and brown, and this year I like them even less.

More terrific in game management by Quade allowing Lopez to hit in the sixth with 2 on and 2 outs. :banghead:

Is it just me or has Hollandsworth really improved over the past couple seasons? He is relatively tolerable in the booth.

He's been a bit of a meathead tonight, but not painfully bad.
