The only what left?
The only starter from the opening day roster that has not yet been on the DL this year.

And it's correct. 4/5 starters, 4/8 starting position players, 2/5 bench players (with another one demoted), and 1/3 of the key relievers so far now have hit the DL.

Starting to remind me of Charlie and the Chocalate Factory.

Im really hoping theres some, any alterntive to Casey Coleman or James Russell.

You should get your wish. Ramon Ortiz is expected to replace Z in the rotation.

If it isn't already, the DL will be the too-convenient excuse for Hendry, Ricketts and Quade to explain the disaster that is the 2011 Cubs. While the DL certainly had an impact, this team was not constructed to win. Not enough pitching, not enough hitting, piss poor defense yet all we will hear from the organization is that the players health was the sole reason for not winning.

As long as that revolving door keeps spinning, maybe something not awful will come out of it, of course, I doubt that will be Ortiz.

That damn Augusta Gloop pisses me off every time I watch that movie.

While nobody in their right mind really picked the Cubs to contend, I don't think it's too outrageous to use injuries as an excuse for this team to be a borderline .500 team. The #4 & #5 starters are something like 8-24 since Wells and Cashner went down.

And I'm still not willing to say Wells is healthy, given the way he pitched in his rehab starts and since he came back.

I think the injury excuse might work just fine to the average random Cubs fan (who doesn't follow baseball or care if the Cubs win).

I think injuries go along way towards explaining why the team is a sub-.400 club instead of the .480-ish club most of us expected. They're the difference between the team being dreadful and merely below average.
