I'm sure he's not having a heck of a lot of fun watching this team this year. I'm sure that must be coming thru on the broadcast.

He plays off Pat pretty well and has settled into the job, but he doesn't have the same energy or enthusiasm Santo used to bring to his broadcasts. It's different, but I like him.

I used to love to listen to the games on radio, mainly due to the chemistry between Ron and Pat. This year I have tried to listen, but find I enjoy Moreland much less so than Dave Otto. Which is saying something, because I didn't particularly care much for Otto. For whatever reason, it seems that Moreland doesn't have much to add and just isn't very interesting.

And probably the worst aspect of Moreland in the booth is whatever is going on in the 5th inning. Does Moreland do play by play during these innings? Its like neither guy in the booth has a clue what his job is and they just talk over each other the whole inning.

How long is Moreland's contract? Granted nobody is ever going to compare to Ron, but I think Pat deserves better.

He meshed very well with Pat in Ron's absence last year, and is doing a respectable job. Once he and Pat work together more it'll get better. It helps that he has prior broadcasting experience, though.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd still rather have Ron.

his sentence structures and grammar as so inexcusable. i know it's a sports broadcast, and he's from texas, but...

i think one of the more overlooked aspects of that job is the off the cuff ability to string the phrases of what's going on as it's going on and coming out of the broadcasters mouth, all while thinking a handful of words in advance. it's tough for anyone in the booth with pat because he's so damn good (in my opinion he is as good as anyone not named vin skully, at least that i've heard), and while moreland has a decent sense of humor, i would almost prefer a no-baseball-background game from pat and judd serot, and i never thought i'd say that one or two years ago (and maybe that's the best hope that moreland could ask for). i loathed serot a couple years ago, but he's come a long way.

Santo didn't have the same energy or enthusiasm for the past several years.

I don't remember how long his contract is, but my hunch is that he's basically a caretaker until Kerry Wood retires as a player and moves into broadcasting.

I'd bet money that Wood replaces Brenly (and that Kerry will be, unfortunately, awful). I wouldn't be surprised to see Dempster in the radio booth once he ultimately retires. How good or bad that would be all depends on how much he reigns in the Harry impersonation.

I kind of envisioned wood in a radio role myself, not sure why though. I listen alot at work and I think Czonk is pretty solid. Obviously its way different than Ronny's charisma with Pat but its not like its Dj and Farmer.
