Yes on all three. @bkelz417: will #Cubs sign Tony Zych??? Haven't heard anything? Plus any updates on Baez and Vogel"bomb" ?

Dunston tweeted yesterday that we should know his decision today. Joeyb and another poster are saying he's going to sign (JoeyB said first round money). Sweet. I honestly don't one bit care if we overpay, it's nice to see this be a priority for once.

On Dunston, I really like what I see from the videos i've watched. I think he could be a good one. Extremely fluid at everything.

Just to throw a name out there I thought Andrew McCutchen. Sadly, another name was Juan Pierre, but Juan Pierre wouldn't be a bad outcome for an 18 year old HS kid in the big picture...A purely LH Bernie Williams also came to mind.

Anyway, he might be my favorite draft pick. For some reason I get the feeling his talent got overshadowed by sheer numbers in this draft. Hopefully they sign him. This sounds like crazy talk, but I'd prefer signing him to Maples if it had to come to that.

With the deadline being midnight tonight, tomorrow could be like baseball Christmas morning. Yeah, I'm a Jew, but baseball Channakah woulnd't make sense as you get your gifts at night, and more often than not, they all suck but 1 or 2. Hopefully it doesn't end up being baseball Channakah.

If all of these signings are true, it should be fun to watch these guys and the 2010 picks on the farm for the next 4-6 years. Hopefully it isn't the only Cubs related thing worth watching in that time.

Rock Shoulders just passed Rebel Ridling for most awesome name in the system. Congrats Rock!

Nah, Reb still has the edge due to it being his real name, and Rhoderick Shoulders doesnt sound quite as cool.

He's drawn a Kenny Lofton comp from some people in terms of style. McCutchen could be nice. Obviously we're just throwing names out there in terms of similar style and not saying he will definitely be that. But potentially.

I still think he has alot more power (at least doubles) potential than we've seen from him so far though...once he fills out a bit more.

Maples leaving UNC football practice slowly leaking out to mainstream media:

@KendallRogersPG: #Cubs 14th-rdr and #UNC signee Dillon Maples didn't show up for football today, took physical yesterday. He will be signing.

@KendallRogersPG: The number I'm hearing attached to Maples is huge for his round ..... waiting for a second confirmation right now.

Nothing much but I figure i'd post it anyways.

The MLB signing deadline for 2011 draft picks is midnight, and Dillon Maples' father, Tim, said Monday at noon that he doesn't have news to confirm one way or another regarding his son, a 14th-round selection of the Chicago Cubs. Various Internet reports have touched on rumors that Maples has agreed to a deal or is close to reaching one with the team.

Maples' father said it's likely negotiations with the Cubs will progress into the evening. With a midnight deadline, it will probably be Tuesday morning before he's able to discuss the situation.

Depending on the price, I'd love to get Jacquez.

Hopefully at some point near the end of the decade, we can look back on this draft as the Cubs version of the Bears 1983 draft.
