The Cubs should be allowed to use metal bats.

UCLA should be allowed to use the old metal bats. :(

Things set up nicely for UVA to get to the CWS. They'll be able to run Tyler Wilson out there tomorrow, and they should advance to supers. I have high doubts UCLA can make it out, and even then, I think they are beatable. But ... no Cole or Bauer tomorrow. Gonna be tough for UCLA.

Shrug. Plutko has been better than Cole the last few months. But they won't do much if their offense continues to be anemic.

Dallas Baptist, Kent State, Mississippi St are 1 win away from moving on to the Super Regionals. UC Irvine is 1 inning away from also being there, theses are all #3 seeds.

Nice to see Illinois get a win over Kansas St. last night, hopefully they can be competitive vs. CSF tonight. They played decent in the first game against them but really spiraled downwards after 1 bad call by the umps.

I've seen more HBP watching college baseball this week than ever before.

Well, Plutko was dynamite again. He'll be great on Fridays for the next 2 years. Zack Weiss followed him and acquitted himself very well. Shouldn't have been pushed to the 9th though I don't know that it would have mattered. In the end, the same 2 things that have plagued the Bruins all season plagued them last night - inconsistent pen and horrible offense.

It's a shame that the 2 best Bruins baseball players in program history will have netted 1 year of no postseason, 1 national runner up and an ousting in the first weekend.

Tough one for UCLA the other day. There was a part of me that was dying to see a UCLA/UVA matchup. The UVA batters (otherwise known as Tim Wilken's dream college squad of good athletes at all positions) have shown a good approach at the plate. I think it would've been Hultzen vs. Bauer, with Roberts lined up against Cole, and maybe Wilson on Plutko, which would've made for fascinating pitching matchups on all three days.

The other part of me was very wary. Irvine's got a solid squad, but I feel much more comfortable going against Irvine than going against those three arms.

Oh so glad to see some good Gamecock BB here in Columbia with the Cubs sucking so bad (again). Ray Tanner is such an awesome coach and generally good guy. Was really hoping the Cubs had a shot at Jackie Bradley, Jr. He's an exciting player to watch, despite his drop off in power this year and writst injury.

Holy crap. Aaron Westlake with 3 HRs today against Oregon State.

The #1 overall seed Virginia stages a comeback with 2 outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 9th in the decisive Super Regional game 3 against UC-Irvine. They were down 2-1 and got a 2-run single to win 3-2. Thrilling win for Virginia, but a crushing defeat for UCI.

I would much rather have A&M side of the bracket than Texas. I don't think either team will make the finals but I like A&Ms chances better. Having to beat out Florida, Vandy, and UNC is brutal.

I sure hope Cal loses quickly, I'm tired of their story. Maybe if their athletic program didn't back up a dump truck at Tedford's every whim, they'd have money for their other programs. UCLA somehow manages with the same athletic budget.

You're obviously not paying your football players as well.

Given the quality of the product at the Rose Bowl, the players should be paying us.

My Aggies are back in Omaha for the first time since 1999. It's been way too long.

Hey curious what you (or anyone else) think about Matt Juengel's pro prospects.

I think the consensus is that he has the bat to go far, but he has no defensive position. He's been tried a few places with poor results. If he can figure out a place to not kill his team on the field he may be a big leaguer some day.
