Garza to the DL...Geo on rehab

Recommended Posts

So 3/5ths of our starting rotation is on the DL, along with our starting C and CF.

Wells is essentially coming off the DL to replace Garza, isn't he?

Yes, but most people know me as natural pessimist, so leave it to me to frame the situation in the most negative light :)

That's...kind of good news.

Except for the whole best pitcher to the DL part. Doesn't sound like he'll be out too long though. I hope.

All it will hopefully mean is that he can't start on Friday. The stint will likely be retroactive to last Tuesday or Wednesday so if it's not bad, he might be back for what would have been his next scheduled start next week and only miss two starts.

with a bone bruise per Bruce Miles twitter...accounts for the Montanez move.

Also, Geo will go to Tenn for rehab and hopefully return this weekend

Was he hit by a batted ball several weeks ago and I missed it? Where did this bone bruise come from?

I'll just presume this is the Geo rehab thread.

Arizona Phil[/url]"]On an injury rehab assignment in Mesa, AZ, Cubs catcher Geovany Soto went hitless in five plate appearances this morning in a Cactus League Extended Spring Training game played at Fitch Park.

Soto, who was seeing his first game action in two weeks after suffering a groin strain in a game on May 10th, was the starting catcher and got five at bats in the game played on Field #2 (there was another game played simultaneously on Field #3), batting third in each of the first five innings. He looked a bit rusty at the plate, bouncing out 5-3 in the 1st inning, popping out to the first-baseman in foul territory in the 2nd, flying out to the warning track in CF in the 3rd, getting called out on strikes in the 4th, and striking out swinging in the bottom of the 5th. Also two Rockies base-runners stole 2nd base while Soto was behind the plate.

So basically picking up where he left off.
