has anyone noticed that junior lake's BB/K ratio is 0/27? apparently all of the gains he made in plate discipline last year have disappeared.

Yeah. Very disappointing. He doesn't walk and he can't play defense well.

not bad by rosscup, faded late and was also let down by bad D and latham giving up his two inherited runners: 5.2 ip, 7 h, 5 er, 3 r, 1 bb, 5 k.

strong outing by greathouse (probably done?): 6 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 2 bb, 8 k, 1 hbp.

sczcur has 5 SB in the last 5 games, nice to see him running more (i don't care a huge amount about SB, but the minors is the place to run wild and improve that skill)

I heard Szczur's ankle injury has healed a lot in the last week which seems to coincide with his spike in SBs.

I didn't realize that Raley's numbers were so bad. Is the issue his fringy stuff in a tougher league or has he been wild? Too many walks.

I think it's both. His stuff is fringy and hasn't improved like people thought it would once he started pitching full time. With fringy stuff, you can't afford poor control. And he had another bad control outing.

Chiefs throw a combined 1-hitter and had a triple play.

PeoriaChiefs.com[/url]"]The Chiefs' defense quickly nullified the rally however by turning a rare triple play. Clinton's Marcus Littlewood lined a pitch directly to Soto at shortstop who made the catch, flipped it to LePage at second, who then tossed it to Jones at first for the 6-4-3 triple play. It was the first time Peoria has turned a triple play since April 19, 2007 at Great Lakes.

You'd obviously like to see more power from Szczur, but so far his debut has been really good. More BB than K's and 6-6 on stolen bases. He's definitely legit, and a much better investment than Samardzija. I think he'll start hitting for more power in the second half. If that happens, I have to think you'd consider him the #2 prospect behind McNutt (assuming Jackson is brought up).

I right now have Ha ahead of Szczur.

With the power and age difference, I can see that. If Ha keeps the power and walks up, he's definitely ahead of Szczur.

Vitters still ahead of both for me. But if the BABIP doesn't start to correct soon, that may change. I'm pretty happy with his start to the year, though, as long as I can still think he's just been unlucky.
