I would love someone to just take Byrd's salary off our hands and put Brett Jackson in there

Someone with more knowledge of the minors than me - is Brett Jackson actually major league ready?

Depends on which facet of his game you're talking about. He's a good defender in CF and has enough speed to cause trouble on the base paths. In those respects, he's ready.

As for his bat...hard to tell. He's handling AA about as well as can be expected, but I'd like to see how he looks against pitchers with more advanced offspeed stuff in AAA before seeing him in the majors. He probably could play in the majors now, but he'd have a lot of growing pains along the way.

Just looking at his MiLB stats, has his walk rate been better than expected? He's got a .099 IsoD in the minors and I seem to remember (which could be wrong) when he was drafted that people weren't impressed with his walk rate in college.

His walks were fine in college; most people were worried about whether his high strikeout rate would translate into problems when he faced more advanced pitchers. He's still prone to strikeouts, but it's not nearly the problem it once was.

His walk rate has always been OK. It is his contact rate that is a bigger concern. As O_O says, he'd benefit from seeing some more refined off speed pitching in aaa before hitting the bigs.

yeah, let's move starlin to #3, please.

Let's leave him and Barney alone.

why? if starlin is as good as everyone thinks, he should be hitting in a run-producing spot.

At this point, Starlin is better at getting on base for power hitters behind him.

Ah. I don't know where to find college stats so all I had to look at was his minor league stats on B-R. Thanks for the info.
