Cubs sign Ramon Ortiz to minor league contract

He will join Iowa and start for them on Monday. No idea if he's just minor league depth or if the Cubs see him as a potential option for the major league rotation.

What a relief that we signed a crappy pitcher in his late 30s named Ramon instead of a crappy pitcher in his late 30s named Russ.

He had only one good year in his "prime" (if he ever had one). I don't see how he's better than any other free agent pitcher out there. I hope he stays in AAA.
