We aren't trying to say we should be a top 5 team each year, we just don't wanna be on the bubble every year. That's a pretty big difference right there.

Yeah most talented does not equal best.

Im amazed clownshoes had an epic run with his offense in '05 with two point guards then decides to recruit only two point guards the next 7 years.

The insane is he has this team which is rated just as high as that '05 team in recruiting rankings and this happens. Then you have the '08-'09 team with a starting lineup of Frazier (2 star), Meacham (2 star, I think?), McCamey (4 star), Davis (2 star), and Tisdale(3-4 star depending on service)

And he had a great year in '08 relatively speaking to his post Self players. Which is why I think a mid major wouldbe smart to grab him back up. He does much better with less talented kids he can coach to muddy up a game and hope to steal it at the end.

I think that sells that team's defense short, saying they just muddied things up and stole games. They were legitimately great on defense, and would beat teams down on their home court. (As well as a thorough depantsing of Mizzou) It was also the last time we've won in the UC (sad face)

i don't think they want to have more than two transfers from third tier big ten schools. only indiana and up from now on.

Good point, and Barlow probably wants to go somewhere he can make the tournament anyway.

probably why he intentionally got kicked off the team at purdue what with iowa (rpi 843) nipping at the boilermakers' heels.

Iowa St. would fare about as well as Nebraska has in the B1G.

So you think 10 wins in the second hardest conference translate to 4 in the B1G?

If you use recruiting rankings the most talented teams are Ohio state and Illinois. Illinois has like 7 or 8 top 100 players. Not that I think we will be all that good.

Consistency.

the point is that they were in the ballpark with ohio state in terms of talent. not quite there, but they're still top 3-4 in the bt when it comes to pure talent and ability.

Nah, probably more like 5 or 6.

as evidenced by the B12's 4-1 record against the B10 this year. yes, definitely.

Any conference that has Iowa St. in 4th place is hot garbage. With Mizzou leaving next year it's going to be Kansas and a whole bunch of bad basketball going forward.

2 of those games against the top 6 of the Big 10. The loss being for the team who was playing without the best player in the country.

Wait, Smack actually believes this stuff?

I'm just playing with abuck's Iowa St. inferiority complex.

edit: but to be clear, Iowa St. would probably be 6th-7th place in the B1G. No way they would be ahead of MSU/OSU/Michigan/IU/Wisconsin.
