Was that [expletive] serious right there???????? Why are you green lighting him 3-0?

I'm guessing you want him to tie it up right there if he can.

Definitely not the best decision I've seen Quade make.

jesus christ...

way too early to green light and then Soto just hacks at everything

The pitch to pena was a great one to hit. He just got underneath it. I don't mind the call to green light him at all. As long as the hitter is looking for a particular pitch at 3-0, I never mind them swinging at good pitches to hit.

Why? You have a better chance of Pena doing something good with a grooved 3-0 pitch than you do if he takes the pitch down the middle and try to hit from a worse count.

I hope he green lights every good hitter on the team with the understanding that you're narrowing the plate down to the middle of the plate.

On the other hand though, is it easier to take 1 ball in 3 pitches or is it easier to get a hit?

Correia has had excellent control today - I don't believe he's walked anyone. If he doesn't throw any balls, it'll be easier to get a hit.

Not a big fan of leaving Dempster in.

Agreed.

And now doubly so.

Dempster has had nothing for the past 2 innings, why bring him back out :banghead:

Got to start the year with a new manager making questionable decisions

I can't quite tell if the Pirates have a dangerous young offense or if Dempster was just bad today.

Do 10 [expletive] seconds of research.

I question the decision to leave Demp in in the 7th on a cold Opening Day after 100 pitches.

I don't have a problem letting Carlos Pena swing at a meatball on 3-0, and it was a meatball. Sometimes, you just miss it.
