"Mine as well" keep this going as it seemed to work decently well last week. Just 24 of these fake games left to go until the real stuff starts. Can't say I'm following the games all that closely, but its nice to see the Cubs getting at least a couple of W's.

TUE 3/8 - @ Rockies, MLB.com Radio (Game starts at 2:10 PM)

I find myself pulling for Silva to fail,

mostly on Cashner's behalf. I don't really have anything against Carlos,

I just don't want him in the rotation.

3 hits 0 R 0 BB 0 K thru 2 IP. Bourjos crushed a ball that drifted just foul, and the Angels have run themselves out of 2 other opportunities.

I realize its only the second week of spring training, but Pena has only hit one ball in the air thus far (15 ABs). I don't really care about his AVG (and he has drawn 3 walks thus far), but it would be encouraging to see better contact.

wow - those seven runs came fast. Pay attention to work for just a few minutes and look what happens.

Keep up the good work, Silva.

So Colvin picks up his third OUTFIELD error of the spring already. Silva would have given up more, but Byrd threw someone out at the plate for Silva's only out of the inning.

sheesh.

So Colvin committed an error that allowed a run, but Carpenter allowed the runner he inherited to score. Who will Silva fight with?

I know it is only spring training, but to date the Cubs continue to look terrible. Lots of errors, terrible pitching, can't hit, and on and on....

At least with today's game Cashner should have a pretty decent chance to takes Silva's spot in the rotation.

Ugly third for Silva. Final line 2.1 IP, 10 H, 8 ER, 0 BB 0 K. 9 singles, 1 double.

They were earned despite the Colvin error?

Colvin's error only allowed a runner to take an extra base.

On a fly ball, no less. Huzzah!

Who called a Scott Moore grand slam?

Vitters with an RBI double, as well.

Edit: and Wood works 1-2-3 with 2 K. He's looked very sharp since his first outing (although he's been doing it against the JV squad.)

Odd note: at present, both teams are playing shortstops named Darwin.

              AB R RBI H 2B BB K E
W. Castillo 4 1 0 2 0 0 1 0
Max Ramirez: 6 2 3 2 1 1 1 0
Koyie Hill: 13 0 0 0 0 0 2 1

Why is Hill our backup?

Why is Hill our backup?

Because Max Ramirez has hit about as well as Koyie Hill the last couple if years in the minor leagues?

Because he's not much of a defensive catcher?

And Castillo? And Ramirez can at least suck at multiple positions.

But seriously, Wellington Castillo should be the backup, and it's not particularly close.
