I wish I had spread my Chirinos incredulity farther on the internets so I could go on an I-told-you-so spree.

if the search function is working i'd ruin your i-told-you-so spree with predictions about ronny cedeno and the 2010 reds.

I can't imagine you of all people would want to be a wet blanket in bizarre and irrelevant fashion.

I was the one who brought it up and referenced that prediction, true.

Wow. Still, without that trade, our rotation would be even more of a mess than it is now. think Zambrano, Dempster, Silva, Coleman, Russell.

this is true.

you probably do not want to look up brandon guyer's numbers either. archer, on the other hand, has been bad.

Hendry wMay have been a bit too generous with the package, considering that it seemed better than the one that landed the Brewers a former Cy Young winner.

...and Fuld has been OK too.

Whataver becomes of Fuld or Chirinos, you really cant hold that against Hendry. They were destined to be spare parts as long as they were in the organization.

Al Albuquerque has been pretty Wuertz-y so far

watching him, seems like he throws his slider every single pitch (fangraphs lists its usage 65.5% of the time, compared to 34.5% for his 94.6 MPH fastball). coming into today, he's struck out 22 in 12-1/3 IP

in other news, Rich Hill's quietly pitched 3-2/3 scoreless innings for Boston since being called up last Thursday

I really liked Albuquerque when he moved to the pen. I'm not shocked he's had a bigger impact than Jose Ceda.

Josh Harrison (who went to the Pirates in the Gorzelanny/Grabow trade) was just called up to the big leagues.

That means the following Wilken picks have made the big leagues:

2006 - OF Tyler Colvin (1), RHP Jeff Samardzija (5)

2007 - C Josh Donaldson (1S - with the A's), SS/2B Darwin Barney (4), OF Brandon Guyer (5 - with the Rays), LHP James Russell (14)

2008 - RHP Andrew Cashner (1), 2B Josh Harrison (6 - with the Pirates), OF Tony Campana (13)

2009 - 2B DJ LeMahieu (2)

After an awful start in April, Robinson Chirinos has been on a roll. He hit .333/.380/.424 in May, and in the last 10, he's gone .395/.439/.553, with a 14 game hit streak.

Since he wasn't part of the trade, he doesn't get that much discussion as it relates to former Cubs that went to the Rays, but Russ Canzler is hitting .313/.434/.528 while playing a lot of 3rd. Reports on his work at 3rd are still mixed. That said, I still wonder (and I thought this when he was with us last year), if he might be a guy who, if the situation presents it self, becomes a corner IF/OF backup type with some pop off the bench.

After his torrid start, Hak-Ju Lee has cooled down a lot. Still performing well, but his May line of .307/.378/.412 is much more in line with expectations.

According to the Chiefs' Twitter, former Cub 12th rounder Ryan Acosta (Oscar's son) signed with the Dodgers and is with their MWL affiliate.
