I have the draft set up for 10 rounds. Assuming that the draft room actually works this time and our draft gets posted to the web site like it's supposed to, doing the prospect draft the same (setting up a new draft for the prospect portion) might wipe out our major league draft history.

So, I'm thinking we might want to do the prospect draft manually through NSBB like we have the last few years. Either that, or we could extend the regular draft from 10 rounds to 15 rounds and the last 5 rounds or so can be prospects only.

Thoughts?

Do the prospect draft thru NSBB.. I like that idea the best. That'll keep people from picking up major leaguers by mistake during the prospect portion.

Agreed.

Yeah, I was thinking about that possibility myself.

And I no longer have to decide between Teix and Haren. #17, #33 and Arencibia is a pretty decent return for one of those guys, though.

I think that's a ton to give up for one of those guys... Oh well, it wasn't me making the deal.

Just trying to make Adam happy and get Tim out of the 1st round. 8-[

When you put both trades together though I end up getting Tex/Haren, Pujols, King Felix for Cano, Arencibia, Harper and the 17th & 33rd overall pick. Plus I still have the 32nd pick.

Understandable, but i think you undervalue Arencibia and Harper's worth... Free players are worth a ton for the long haul.

And with the 32nd pick, you can steal the player Tim planned on taking with his 33rd pick. Brilliant! :D

Umm. I'm still cussing you for Alex Gordon.

I bet! Braun was a steal for me there.

I don't think Harper is going to make an impact until late '12 or '13 and I really got down on Arencibia after his debut last season. I still have plenty of young, free players that can make an impact soon.

After looking at the FA list again I might not even take Tex or Haren with the 1st pick.

Hamels?

Surely you don't believe Bautista will repeat his performance? Or are you channeling your inner white sock into thinking Konerko was just getting started last year?

No. Bautista was a fluke. Hamels is possible.

Well, if you're going to go with Tiex, let me know and I won't try to trade for #2. :)

Just took my initial in-depth look at the FA's.

This will easily be the deepest draft we've had in years. I love some of the page 2 and page 3 hitters. Heck, even Manny is at the bottom of page 4.

This would be a great year to have a stockpile of picks.

i think the pitching depth sucks pretty hard.

I guess I'm not looking there much because I've got five solid starters already. If, you know, the Cubs are smart enough to start Wells.

Carlos Silva or bust!

Yeah, I'm not high on Arencibia either.

Can we trade draft positions? Anyone want to give up a couple picks to move to #6?

I'm willing to do #6 plus my 4th round pick for a late 1st/early 2nd and a 3rd.

Offer sent. I think my offer is exactly what you indicated an interest in.

I don't see a reason people can't trade draft picks. I suppose you can still trade rostered players provided your team is legal and stays legal and within the cap, which would include the trading of minor league players for prospect draft picks, etc...
