But yeah, I can't really see a rivalry building between us and the Rams anytime soon.

I bet a rivalry would not take long at all if they were in the same division.

I think LA is looking at a couple teams, and I would hope they wind up taking the Jaguars. Minnesota may only be about the stadium ploy.

I'd love STL in the North, just for the simple fact that I could go to a game once a year without having to pay a ridiculous amount for tickets.

My initial reaction too, but then I realized those games would be in the craptastic EJ Dome.

Maybe, maybe not. I think it'd take quite some time for them to reach Vikings/Bears level for most Packers fans. But then again, we had a pretty solid rivalry with Tampa near the end of their run in the Central, so who knows?

I've thought all along that the Jags made the most sense for LA.

If the Jags moved, would KC move to the AFC south?

I would doubt it, only because they have such a terrific rivalry with all three of their division foes, and especially Oakland/Denver. I think STL remains the perfect candidate to switch. STL/IND/HOU/TEN is a fairly natural rivarly, at least geographically.

But a lot of people think it will just be San Diego moving north, which would be incredibly boring.

Ugh. I think it should be the Jags.

Just about every team wants a new stadium guarantee out of LA before moving, whether it's the Downtown LA site or the City of Industry one. I'll believe it will happen when I see it.

I'd rather the Jaguars move here too - mainly because I want the Vikings to stay in the NFC North.

City of Industry -- that's pretty far out, isn't it?

I saw that report on ESPN. I think I like the Downtown LA proposal better.

But yeah, that's the problem. LA is a huge behemoth city, with crappy stadiums. And it's hard to get a massive project like that done, especially right now.

Well, the City of Industry is about 20 miles from Downtown LA but it is a bit more central to the whole LA metro area (for example, it's closer to Orange County and the Inland Empire than Downtown).

In theory, a Downtown LA site would be great and would help the attempt to revitalize the area but there are some major infrastructure/transportation problems. The City of Industry is stadium is supposedly going to be privately funded but it has some problems on its end too.

That would be weird to lose the Vikings as a division rival. No offense to the Lions but they are barely a rival at this point. As annoying as the 2 teams are, I look forward to the 4 annual meetings against the Packers and Vikings each year. The Rams wouldn't be the same.

I think Minny-Packers is a much bigger deal than Minny-Chi.

It is. But all of you need to stop talking about this before I cry.

I don't even know what I would do.

If it happens, we'll take up a collection to get you started with some Bears gear.

Eff that. If I have to take up a new team I'm going with the Browns.

moving a team to LA is a terrible idea for many reason, not least of which is that no one will go to the games

I'm sure they can get 80,000 people to go 8 times a year with ease if they put the stadium in Downtown LA or the City of Industry.

Why not the Lions?

Yeah you never have to worry about getting your heartbroken as a Lions fan. Unless of course you take their guarantees to heart.

Nobody will go to games? People go to freaking Clippers games 41 times a year, let alone the Lakers, Dodgers, Angels, Kings and Ducks. The Raiders left because the stadium is a complete dump. The Rams left for a sweetheart stadium deal. LA will not struggle to support a football team. What they need is a stadium.

The Kings currently have the worst attendance in the NBA and were thrown in contraction talks during Stern's bluff. They have been involved in relocation talks for quite some time after 2 new stadium deals were voted down.

If a new team arrives in LA I do believe attendance would be well-received as the hot new thing, but pretty fairweather too. I wouldn't buy into guaranteed attendance there whatsoever. With a good team they would have no problems and rake in a ton of money, but the Jaguars consistent mediocrity might not be the draw they would hope for. Its risky but certainly a gamble the Jags should make if available.

What does Sacremento have to do with LA? The LA Kings are a hockey team and they do fairly well in attendance.

As for the Jags, they have 6 playoff appearances in their 15 seasons. I wouldn't exactly call them consistently mediocre. Besides, its the NFL, and any team can turn into a 10-12 game winner in one or two seasons.

Well obviously I thougth you were talking about a different Kings there buddy.

Why would I be talking about the Sacremento Kings when I was talking about LA area teams?

If you're not a hockey fan, I could see how you'd make that mistake. Sometimes all those California teams just kinda get grouped together.
