Seriously. He's had one bad year due to injuries. He'd probably go for a fairly cheap one year deal as long as it's to be the everyday 1B. He gets to rebuild his value, the Cubs get a potentially outstanding stopgap until the really good 1B FA year. Better than committing to 3-4 years of Adam Dunn, IMO.

He is still going to command a lot of money despite a down year and he's going to be 35 next year. Adam Dunn is 4 years younger and probably cheaper while not showing any signs of declining offensive production

If it allows the cubs to sell high on byrd and trade Fuku and make a run for Crawford. I'd be for it.

But instead I'm resigned to a team that will trade Ramirez and bring in the 3rd base version of Jeremy Hermida (Gordon) and move Colvin to first to make room for Sam Fuld.

What the heck are you talking about?

if Fukudome is traded and Berkman can still man a corner OF in a 4th OF type of role, I wouldnt mind bringing him in. Kind of like a switch hitting Nady type of role.

I doubt fatty mcgoo is going to be much help in the OF anymore. He hasn't played much there since his early 30's and he is going to be 35 this year. Possibly get and and play somebody like Nady or Baker when there's a LH pitcher.

I remember him saying he didn't like Wrigley or the city at all, or something of the sort. then found this in a interview with ESPN, not sure how long ago.

DP: What's the toughest ballpark as far as fans heckling you?

LB: Wrigley Field. I'll probably get scalded for saying this, since people like Wrigley because it's nostalgic, but if they blew that place up it wouldn't bother me at all. People think it's a good hitter's park but it really isn't, because they keep the grass about knee-high in the infield and when the wind blows in you can't see. And the temperature's never comfortable -- it's either freezing cold or sweltering hot. It's just a tough place to play.

DP: What about the fans? Do they get on you?

LB: They do indeed.

DP: Give me a sampling.

LB: Well, a lot of what they say can't be repeated in a magazine or otherwise. They're definitely the most vulgar fans in the league.

It was funny when he fled from Mother Nature.

To be fair, that was a pretty unreal storm that night. And if I'm one of the fattest players on the field, I'm going to want a headstart to the dugout.

What's the Mike Remlinger story?

Late 2004, the Cubs were on the wrong end of a game that got out of hand late. Remlinger seemingly hit Berkman in the head with a pitch and Berkman was on the ground for a while; the replays showed it hit Berkman's bat and Lance was doing a world-class acting job. pretending like his brains were spilling out his helmet and his world was collapsing while he was down. Mike was less than pleased and had a few choice words for Berkman. Keep in mind that this was while Remlinger's daughter was recovering from being hit by a car.
