Hey, I'm a fan just like most people here and obviously want my team to win. But it seems like the more games actually count, the worse this team plays and vice versa. This year, they teased us many times with mini streaks where they actually played OK, pushed .500, made us think they were going to get back in it. And then they drop 4 out of 5, or 8 out of 10 to a couple of sucky teams and are out of it again. Now that they are hopelessly out of it, they are actually winning games.

 

It almost makes you believe in "clutch". Or lack thereof.

It's amazing how well a team can play when the lights dim and the pressure of winning goes away. Helps that we've played some mediocre teams lately too. Not saying it's not a good thing what they are doing, I'm just saying if you plan on fielding this exact team next year, prepare to have another year like this one.

Don't worry, at least one of the top-rated players in the draft will fall into the Cubs' laps because of signability reasons. Granted, the Cubs won't take him, but still!

Chalk it up to chance, or whatever. This team sucks under pressure. Period. And it's been that way for a few years.

My favorite thing is that excluding today, Starlin Castro is 3 for 26 since he "needed time off" to "learn" from players like Barney and company. Good job. Quade. Because the Cubs are winning we may be stuck with him, unfortunately.
